In the Americas, WHO estimates that 49 percent of women, or 178 million women, have HSV-1 and 39 percent of men, or 142 million, do.
That's the region with the lowest rates. In Africa, 87 percent of people have HSV-1 while it's close to 60 percent in Southeast Asia.

herpes has a stimga but its way more common than you think
then you have alot of common strains or symtoms that never manifest.
Cold sores are a strain of herpes, and its mostly passed from parent to child.
Drink off a coworkers cup, and you could have it -

Bruh I'll never forget being my junior year in college we were at this spot on campus eating and one of those "1 in 4 people have an STD and don't know it" stat came on t.v. I swear me and my friends spent a good hr or so counting people in groups of 4s as they walked in and saying ? like "damn ol girl is #4. Stats say she got the clap" lol. -
As I've said before the VAST majority of people who have herpes(oral or genital) show no symptoms at all. You could have it right now and could spread it to someone and never know.

A lot of y'all obviously aren't familiar with these infections and how common they are. Like it's already been mentioned many people have these infections and many exhibit no signs or symptoms.
These type of individuals are called asymptomatic carriers.
Most people don't know it but chicken pox and shingles are also different strains of the herpes virus that manifest in different symptoms in the body.
If as many of y'all are sexually active as you claim you are probably already infected with something most likely probably being HSV-1 or 2 or the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).
HPV (high risk strains) doesn't manifest any symptoms in men but can be passed on to women and produce abnormal cells in the ? that can possibly lead to cervical cancer if not treated.
HSV-1 and HSV-2 more commonly known as oral and genital herpes you have to have a blood test done or be specifically screened for them and most of the time this is not included as part of a normal STD check up most people do not know this. -
