"NOTHING CONFIRMS RAMPANT STUPIDITY FASTER...Than reading reviews of my own movies. I usually try to avoid the experience - but this one takes the cake. Often, to my great amusement, a critic will mention my past films in glowing terms, when at the time those same films were savaged, as if to highlight the critic's flawed belief of my descent into mediocrity. You see, my dear fellow FBookers, I have rarely gotten great reviews… on any of my movies, apart from those by reviewers who think for themselves and make up their own opinions. Sadly those type of reviewers are nearly all dead. Good reviews often come many years after the movie has opened. I guess I have the knack of rubbing reviewers the wrong way - always have. This time of course they have bigger axes to grind - they can rip into my movie while trying to make their mainly pale ? look so politically correct by screaming "white-wash!!!” like the deranged idiots they all are. They fail to understand, or chose to pretend to not understand what this movie is, so as to serve some bizarre consensus of opinion which has nothing to do with the movie at all. That’s ok, this modern age of texting will probably make them go the way of the dinosaur or the newspaper shortly - don't movie-goers text their friends with what they thought of a movie? Seems most critics spend their time trying to work out what most people will want to hear. How do you do that? Why these days it is so easy... just surf the net to read other reviews or what bloggers are saying - no matter how misguided an opinion of a movie might be before it actually comes out. Lock a critic in a room with a movie no one has even seen and they will not know what to make of it. Because contrary to what a critic should probably be they have no personal taste or opinion, because they are basing their views on the status quo. None of them are brave enough to say “well I like it” if it goes against consensus. Therefore they are less than worthless. Now that anyone can post their opinion about anything from a movie to a pair of shoes to a hamburger, what value do they have - nothing. Roger Ebert wasn’t bad. He was a true film lover at least, a failed film-maker, which gave him a great deal of insight. His passion for film was contagious and he shared this with his fans. He loved films and his contribution to cinema as a result was positive. Now we have a pack of diseased vultures pecking at the bones of a dying carcass. Trying to peck to the rhythm of the consensus. I applaud any film-goer who values their own opinion enough to not base it on what the pack-mentality say is good or bad."

What does other parts of africa got to do with this movie about one part of africa? I think the reaction would be the same if it were another part of africa as well. I know you young, but are you truly not aware of the history white folks have of whitewashing everything(especially great accomplishments)?

One of those is not like the other. The Mexican is a name of a pistol Brad Pitt sets out to retrieve.
Funnily enough a great deal of people in Mexico are racially white. -
Lmao @ Proyas being all in his feelings though. You're a hollywood director. Thicken that skin.

Hopefully all the main actors who participated in that movie...except Chad.
Chad's debt is forgiven due his potrayal of BP. That alone gives him automatic forgiveness. Everyone need to pay up. -
This movie lost more than that. Marketing must've been massive this had ads everywhere. The studio and production houses behind it have to live with the loss.
I'm watching Dark City as I type this. The extent of Proyas' fall off is massive cause that ? is still an undeniable classic. So was The Crow of course. -
He's right about critics today though. 99.9 percent are worthless and just re-parrot the general consensus for the sake of likes and hits. No genuine or unbiased opinions whatsoever cause they don't even know what actual critiquing is.
-
Read all of that and he didn't even attempt to explain the white washing, just bashed critics who pointed it out
-
He mad.
Lookin like a ? Tracy villain
-
Lol!!!!
It's failed because it is white washed as ? and a overall bad film. It just what it is and you have to realized we ain't paying no more white Egyptians no longer especially the deities are white washed. It was basically a Greek movie with Egyptian neteru's being displayed. It's very disrespectful and most of them came from southern Africa especially in the Sudan. -
ok i have a question tho, if its a conspiracy and white ppl try to "whitewash" everything as some of yall say.
why didnt white ppl make this movie a huge hit and gave it some oscar nominations? -

Because white people knew it was ? too. -

Real talk. I thought he'd at least point out that in this movie Egypt is a weirdo fictional planet and not a northern state in Africa. But those feelings kept him from any rational thought. -

UMM because its a ? movie by most critics account. also the white washing in films has gotten so bad even white folks are speaking out about it ... .. but white washing in films aint no conspiracy bruh.. any quick google search and u will find constant examples of white washing films..
but let me guess u dont think it actually exist do you? -

of course it exists to some degree, but most of these actors are also white and whites are the main customers of hollywood. you know japanese ppl(anime) chinese, and indian ppl(bollywood) also make everythign about themselves.
of course the us is more mixed than them but i dont really think its a conspiracy just business.

umm yeah that kinda what i would expect you to say.. white hollywood execs use that excuse too. Even though that theory that non white lead films cant be successful has been debunked ...
but im glad its 2016 and even white folks are calling out hollywood for that ? . and it doesnt exist to "some degree" it has been rampant for decades. -

also you have to see that hollywood is not the real world, its just parts of the real world through the eyes of these old "white" hollywood execs. just like anime is the world and fantasy through the eyes of these japanese guys.
but yea i think hollywood is changing alot in the next decades. -

Question though:
Would the movie had made any more money if the cast was black. I don't even think we support our own movies unless it's Tyler Perry or Cube productions.
