Rumors of the inception of the second installment of the game Red Dead Redemption have begun to come alive. With the E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) slated for early June, assumptions of these rumors holding any weight have flourished among gaming hopefuls.

Per an anonymous source who was involved with the Rockstar development team, the game would be slated for a 2017 release and would feature all-new game playing styles and formats. The map packs would be expanded to greater lengths, with many more challenges and expanded game playing options.

The title (RDR 2: Legends of the West) would hint at the induction of playing the game with different characters and even the possibility of some classic Wild West icons.

No other news has surfaced surrounding this announcement/leak of information, which leads to speculation in terms of good or bad. The good is that no one has contested this information, the bad being that no one has backed it up either.

Take Two Interactive has spoken regarding the game as well. In an interview with CEO of the gaming company, Strauss Zelnick backed Red Dead Redemption as a staple game, giving some credit to a permanent stay of the franchise. This information provides proof that a game will eventually be in the works, given the above information or not.

I pretty much know the ones that I can assure you are permanent. It’s obvious that GTA is a permanent franchise as long as we keep delivering this incredible quality; it seems quite obvious that Red Dead is a permanent franchise, again with the same caveat, or Borderlands, for example, and NBA and others

Being that this information came from an anonymous source with a hot tip, your guess is as good as ours if this information is valid or truthful. The answer will be revealed in June as the E3 convention takes place, but it remains to be seen if this information will hold any weight or be verified prior to the convention.
