grid went down like a few years ago during a storm I think.

keep batteries, a phone that still connects to the wall with a cord...not charger and a generator.

now uf it's a emp bomb..... don't matter anyway

EMP is generated as a byproduct of nuclear detonation. Starfish Prime was a perfect example of it where, when detonated, it hit Hawaii with huge primary and secondary EMP blasts. It knocked out streetlights and disrupted radio and microwave communications all over the island but not everything was affected like that.

A good generator made today is enclosed in a metal case. Those cases will likely act like a Faraday cage in the event of an EMP, so they should still work provided you're not close to ground zero. Too close to ground zero and the generator's coils will be fried... and so will you and everything around you so having one will be moot anyways. EMP weapons are usually nuclear devices detonated at high altitude to cover a wide area, so unless we're being threatened by a weapon of that caliber we should be good.
