Gosling usually plays the quiet twisted type but The Nice guys and the crazy love joint showed comedic range.
sometimes he goes too far with it though, his performance in 'Only ? Forgives' was the apex of his style in the unbearable form, whereas in 'Drive' he pulled it off because it fitted the character better.
Personally i think he's a much better actor when he switches the charm offensive on full (Blue Valentine, Half Nelson) rather than being repressive.
Nicolas Winding Refn would have wanted him to play that kind of performance in Only ? Forgives, and I personally think he's good in that film. Watch something like The Neon Demon and the actors have that same dead-eyed delivery.
Ryan Gosling is underappreciated - he seems like a great fit for Blade Runner.
do not watch these sick twisted movies in the bold. Any person that finds these kind of gore porn movies good is a psychopath Nicolas Winding Refn needs to get his head examined
You soft. Ima watch that ? tonight -

say goodbye to your sanity -
So Villeneuve is reportedly in talks to direct the Dune reboot. Dune is one of my favorite books of all time and I always watch the long cut of the 80's version whenever it's on. I even found some enjoyment out of the Sci Fi miniseries.

Dune is a brilliant series of books but has proven quite difficult to adapt in the past. Best of luck to him. -

Yeah but it made sense in The Neon Demon because of the industry and themes running through it, I didn't really think much of that movie either but i give it credit for being something different and that craves to be discussed.
Did you ever watch Lost River?
It's Nicolas Winding Refn's style and fit with The Neon Demon just as well with Only ? Forgives. We will just have to agree to disagree.
I admittedly haven't watched Lost River yet but it is a film I've wanted to see for a while.dontdiedontkillanyon wrote: »lazypakman wrote: »Gosling is one of the better actors of this newish generation. Only ? Forgives was technically fluent but was ? as a story and script...
I'm excited for this sequel and Villeneuve has stated it's gonna be the most expensive R-rated film ever. It's currently undergoing editing... -

The Nice Guys
La La Land
And of course the Blade Runner universe is LA -
I'm calling it: this will be better than the original!

Blade Runner 2049 adds composers Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch
BY MILES BOWE, JUL 31 2017
The film is out this October.
Two months away from its highly anticipated release, Blade Runner 2049 has added composers Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch to write additional music for the film, Film Music Reporter points out.
Director Denis Villeneuve revealed the shakeup in an interview with Studio Cine Live, explaining that his frequent musical collaborator and original composer, Jóhann Jóhannsson, was still involved in the project.
“[Jóhann] composed the main theme as planned but, given the magnitude of the task, Benjamin Wallfisch and Hans Zimmer joined the team to help Johann,” Villeneuve said in a translation of the interview adding, “It’s hard to [follow] Vangelis!”
Zimmer needs no introduction, but Wallfisch has gradually made a name for himself as a protégé. In addition to being a member of Zimmer’s company, both are credited for music in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk and last year’s Hidden Figures.

Jóhann Jóhannsson No Longer Involved With Blade Runner 2049: Report
Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch were brought in as additional composers earlier this year
Jóhann Jóhannsson is no longer involved with Blade Runner 2049, according to Icelandic newspaper Fréttablaðið (via the Iceland Review). It had first been revealed in summer 2016 that Jóhannsson would be the film’s sole composer.
In July 2017, it was reported that Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch were brought on to assist Jóhannsson. All of Jóhannsson’s contributions have now been reportedly removed from 2049. When reached for comment, Jóhannsson’s representatives replied, “Unfortunately due to a legal Non Disclosure Agreement Jóhann signed we’re not able to speak about this film at all.” Pitchfork has contacted representatives for the film for more information.
