How is a paranoid hotep ? a valid criticism when it's been proven over centuries there's been an agenda against black men/people in this country

Idc either way, didn't watch, don't care who won/didn't

? hated the movie as soon as they realized what it was about
    that wasn't an agenda
some of y'all just hate ?

I don't hate the ? , I'm just disgusted by the ? agenda.........which is to normalize deviant behavior and make it acceptable to the masses by slipping tidbits of it in every aspect of entertainment.

Biggest problem I have isn't necessarily with the movie itself........it's with the fact that the Hollywood establishment wouldn't have embraced it without the ? angle.

It would've just been looked at as another hood movie.

Basically, on the surface it seems like they're embracing black culture........when in fact they're actually embracing the emasculation of black men.

    Blatant hypocrisy and subtle racism.

Anybody that makes the argument that the dude is ? and therefore emasculated clearly hasn't seen the movie and their opinion is ? .

    Just letting you know:

    dk5rl5nf4h2y.gif

Didn't have to see the movie to know what it's about.

And it's not really about the movie specifically........but about the message being sent and the reason for Hollywood getting behind it the way that they did.

You can't deny that there's an agenda being pushed with the promotion and acceptance of this film.

Well, you can deny it.......but that doesn't make it any less true.

The Birth of a Nation is a 2016 American period drama film based on the story of Nat Turner, the enslaved man who led a slave rebellion in Southampton County, Virginia, in 1831. Co-written, co-produced and directed by Nate Parker (in his directorial debut), the film stars Parker as Turner, with Armie Hammer, Aja Naomi King, Jackie Earle Haley, Penelope Ann Miller and Gabrielle Union in supporting roles. Parker also petitioned financiers to invest in the film, ultimately getting an $8.5 million production budget, and started filming in May 2015 in Georgia.

The film premiered in competition at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival on January 25, 2016. Fox Searchlight Pictures bought worldwide rights to the film in a $17.5 million deal, the largest deal at the film festival to date. At the end of the festival, the film won the Audience Award and Grand Jury Prize in the U.S. Dramatic Competition and was highly praised for its directing, acting, soundtrack and cinematography. The film was theatrically released in the United States on October 7, 2016 by Fox Searchlight Pictures and grossed $16 million.

U right lemme rephrase it didn't do as good as it was hyped up to be. It didn't do as well as most historical films plus it came out the same time as some other hard hitting movies bad timing.

Birth of a nation did 7.1 million in its first weekend of release. 12 years a slave did 6 million in its first weekend. But one gets labeled a "flop" and the other was deemed a success. Stop falling for these crackas and their con games.

Don't care abt the numbers of the 1st week that just means people went to see it cuz they felt it would be a good movie. Doesn't make it good, that's like when people paid to see Kanye and his ass decided to dip and ruin the show. They paid for something they thought was gonna be good and ended up getting ? . Also world wide numbers are what's important not 1st week

Was there an agenda for pushing musicals when la la land was nominated for everything?

How bout moonlight was actually just that good that's why it got hyped..

12 Years a Slave debuted with small numbers because it was a limited release. Only in 19 theaters 1st week and a slow rollout after that.

    BOAN people just didnt support.

And it was a very good movie. Lil bit of a slow start but Nate did a great job

Films nominated for oscars and globes, just like artists nominated for Grammys, receive more press and sales.

The movie had a 8 million dollar budget and he sold the movie for 17 million dollars to Fox Search Light and its grossed 16 million to date. You do the math and tell me if that sounds like a flop. Once again stop letting them crackas brainwash you.

That ? was in and out the theater after like 3 quick weeks. Stop frontin.

I went opening week and there was 1 other person in the theater. Many ppl on here posted similar stories of empty theaters
