Hundreds of residents of an Indian city where a teenage boy died of a suspected drug overdose went on a violent rampage against Africans, using steel chairs to attack shoppers in a local shopping centre.

The riots broke out late on Monday after police in Greater Noida, a satellite city of New Delhi, released five African students detained over the youth's death, saying they had no evidence against them.

One television station showed an angry mob hitting a car with sticks, while another showed dozens of attackers using steel chairs to hit shoppers in a mall.

Police said 10 people had been wounded, while India's foreign minister said authorities were investigating the attacks.

"There will be a fair and impartial investigation into this unfortunate incident," Sushma Swaraj tweeted.

In a Facebook post, the Association of African Students in India told its members to stay indoors and not attend lectures on Tuesday for fear of possible attacks.

Africans living in India frequently face discrimination and even violence, and are often accused of involvement in the illegal drug trade.

The issue was thrown into the spotlight after the stoning to death of a Congolese national in a dispute over an auto-rickshaw last year.

After that , African ambassadors in New Delhi threatened to advise students from their countries to avoid universities in the capital for their own safety.

The latest attack stemmed from the death of a 16-year-old from an apparent drug overdose.

Police detained five Nigerian students in connection with the case after a group of local people went to their home and accused them of murder.

The students were later released without charge after police failed to find any evidence against them.

African student leader Samuel Jack said Monday's attack was just the latest example of racist violence against Africans.

"We are targeted because of our colour," Jack told AFP news agency, adding that many African students were leaving the area out of fear.

The lowest Caste in the Indian Hindu system is called the Untouchables. One sure fire way to be on that level was to have dark skin. And that's for dark skinned Indians, so you know how they feel about dark skinned people from somewhere else.

They don't use toilet paper at all. They pour that bottle of water next to them down their ass ? and use their bare left hand to wipe the ? out of their ? . If the person is middle class or above, they'll at least wash their hands with soap afterwards but not always. Less than middle class there's prolly a 99.99999999987% chance that their left hand hasn't seen soap and water. And these are the muhfuckas that pick crops, sell food on the street, drive rickshaws, deliver ? to your hotel room, etc. The few public toilets there usually are similar to a bidet but that ain't always guaranteed and public toilets away from middle class areas are almost always devoid of any type of soap.

I've had people tell me that India genuinely smells like ? and the Ganges river will make you ? 'cause the smell is so vile (there's dead bodies floating in it, raw ? , cows ? and ? in it, etc...). There's places in India I wouldn't mind seeing before I die, but not until they get their ? issues under control.

Wait a minute wait a minute they are literally wiping their ass with their bare hands wtf? All of the viruses that is spreading around from the poor sanitation, I'm surprised a black plague has not ravaged that country.

Yup. Wiping with your bare hand is considered the way to do it in India. Amazingly, they think our way of doing it is disgusting.

India is in a humanitarian crisis due to atrocious sanitation conditions. Water supplies, streets, you name it are polluted with human ? all over the place. The Ganges river is considered holy by Hindus and they insist on bathing in it regularly. Yet the river is known to be one of the most polluted on the planet. There are parts of the Ganges that are so polluted no marine life can survive in it, let alone human life.

Open ? like that spreads disease like crazy and also breeds India's other humanitarian crisis: ? . Women are routinely ? while out in the fields or on streets while taking a ? or ? because they're partially unclothed, exposed to anyone in eyesight. Having to go in the middle of the night is particularly dangerous for women and they're advised to go in pairs or groups for safety. Needless to say having a toilet in the house would prevent some of this but hundreds of millions of homes in India, particularly in their rural areas and small towns, have no toilets in the home.

India is a backwards ass place. They ain't got a spot to ? or ? in, but them muhfuckas are trying to build a satellite to put in orbit around Mars.

And little girls ain't safe either:

Women living in urban slums of Delhi reported specific incidents of girls under 10 "being ? while on their way to use a public toilet" to researchers of a 2011 study funded by WaterAid and DFID-funded Sanitation and Hygiene Applied Research for Equity...

... "We have had one-on-one fights with thugs in order to save our daughters from getting ? . It then becomes a fight that either you [the thug] ? me to get to my daughter or you back off," a helpless mother told the researchers, pointing out to the chilling frequency of such assaults.

Poor people blaming other people for their problems. Nothing new here.
Japanese blamed the Koreans for earthquakes. Not the earth for shaking but other people and their bad behaviors are the real reason for earthquakes. That is what the ill informed and poor people do.

    Yes.
That's the origin of why socially shaking someone's hand with your left hand is considered disrespectful
