"Call The Police" and "American Dream" are from the group's upcoming reunion album, which frontman James Murphy says is "seriously almost done."

LCD Soundsystem are about to digitally release two new songs, "Call The Police" and "American Dream."

The songs come from the group's upcoming album, a record that's been in the works for a while—James Murphy and company first said it was on the way in early 2016, when they announced plans to get back together less than five years after calling it quits.

Last month, fans in New York got a first taste of new material at LCD Soundsystem's five-night residency at Brooklyn Steel, and today Murphy took to Facebook to reveal that "Call The Police" and "American Dream" will be released around the world at midnight tonight, local time. They'll show up on vinyl as part of the LP, which Murphy says is "seriously almost done" and needs "one more vocal and two more mixes" before it's sent for mastering. For now, though, "Call The Police" and "American Dream" will only be available digitally.

"These are just two songs that we wanted to get out to the lovely and patient (and some less patient, but one assumes equally lovely) people who want new music," Murphy writes, adding that the album has been "one of the most enjoyable records to make in my life, if not the most fun ever."

LCD Soundsystem have announced their new album. James Murphy and company will release new LP American Dream, their first since 2010’s This Is Happening, on September 1 via Columbia/DFA. As expected, it features both “Call the Police” and “American Dream,” the pair of tracks released in May and performed on “Saturday Night Live.” At the end of May, Murphy wrote on Facebook that “the lacquers are winging their way to the pressing plant” and that he’d been “wrangling the fastest route between final mix and record release.” He added that it would be the final LP recorded at the original DFA studios. The band have also announced a world tour including yet another residency at Brooklyn Steel this December. Check out the dates below, along with the LP tracklist.

This past weekend saw the band return to Brooklyn Steel for their second residency at the venue—the final show of the run is on June 24. Earlier this month, new reissues of several LCD Soundsystem albums were announced to be coming via Rhino. The band pushed back on the reissue series, saying they had “no idea” it was happening and urging fans to “just buy from DFA.”

LCD Soundsystem will headline Pitchfork Music Festival 2017 with A Tribe Called Quest and Solange. The festival takes place in Chicago’s Union Park from July 14–16.

Here’s The Album Artwork For LCD Soundsystem’s American Dream
    James Rettig 10:18 am

    unnamed-2-1501855936-720x720.jpg

LCD Soundsystem’s first new album in seven years, American Dream, is coming out on 9/1. The official pre-order for the album has launched and, and with it we get our first look at the artwork. It’s album art so bad that I had to reach out to PR yesterday to make sure it was real when it started circulating a little early. They didn’t get back, but considering this thing is plastered over every pre-order page and included in today’s official press release, it looks like it’s the real deal. Behold, the artwork for LCD Soundsystem’s fourth album.

In other news, the iTunes pre-order page reveals that the album is 68 minutes long, and if you head there you can see all the tracklist lengths. Closing song “Black Screen” lasts 12 minutes!

American Dream is out 9/1 via Columbia Records/DFA. Pre-order it here.

LCD Soundsystem recently released “tonite,” a new song from their upcoming album American Dream. The band have now shared a new music video for the track, directed by Joel Kefali. The video is an old-school performance clip, with James Murphy sauntering around a stage as the band performs. Watch it below. “tonite” is the third song released from the new album, following “Call the Police” and “American Dream.” The song also appeared in a new virtual reality experience that debuted earlier this summer. The band recently shared the cover art for the record, which James Murphy discussed with Tom Scharpling on “The Best Show.” American Dream is out September 1 via Columbia/DFA.
