I want to say it will be a good game, with Meyer doing to Saban what Saban did to Meyer and scheme heavy for this game.. I think if the Gators can get the offense going the defense will be there to defend that run... I'm not holding my breath but I'll say UF: 27 - Bama: 24... ? this consensus 'Bama ? .

On "The Experts" they said Urban Meyer told them he had a Alabama week during their summer time training.

Damn! A whole week on Alabama before they even played their first game.

Alabama 27, Florida 17: It always makes for high drama when the two biggest, baddest dudes on the block get it on. That’s what Alabama and Florida have been in the SEC the past couple of years. Their last two meetings were two of the most anticipated games in recent SEC history. This is their first regular-season meeting since 2006. The Gators’ defense will see to it that they hang around in this game, but the Crimson Tide’s offensive line and running game will see to it that they pull away in the second half.

    Who has the EDGE

Alabama rush game vs. Florida rush defense: The Tide will send RBs Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson at the Gators in waves, just like they did last week in running for 227 yards at Arkansas. It's all about wearing down Florida's defense and setting up play-action passes. But the Gators may have the best rush defense Alabama will see all season. Plus, the Gators have installed a "heavy package" that moves an end to linebacker and brings in an extra tackle for a 5-2 look up front. Ingram (113 yards rushing) and Richardson (80) gashed the Gators in the SEC title game last season. If that happens again, Florida has no chance. Edge: Alabama

Alabama pass offense vs. Florida pass defense: Alabama QB Greg McElroy is the No. 2 rated SEC passer, completing a league-best 70.9 percent of his throws. McElroy, who is 17-0 as a starter, knows his limitations. But he looked shaky last week, tossing two interceptions at Arkansas. The Gators give up 201.5 passing yards per game but lead the nation with 12 picks; they've returned three for scores. If Florida commits to trying to stop the Tide ground game, McElroy has to make the Gators pay by throwing deep to Julio Jones, Marquis Maze and Darius Hanks. CB Janoris Jenkins and SS Ahmad Black are playing at a high level, but the Gators' nickel and dime backs are true freshmen. The Gators' pass rush has been so-so. Edge: Alabama

Florida run offense vs. Alabama run defense: Junior TB Jeff Demps is a big play waiting to happen, but he has a sore foot. Demps is expected to play. And he better, because Florida will need big plays to win this game. To mix things up, the Gators sub in true freshman QB Trey Burton, who scored a school-record six touchdowns in last week's victory over Kentucky. Burton allows the Gators to run their preferred spread-option package. But Florida may have a difficult time finding room to run against a physical Alabama front seven. The Gators have an SEC-high 12 rushing TDs, but the Tide has yielded one TD on the ground. If Florida can't run, it will put too much pressure on QB John Brantley. Edge: Alabama

Florida pass offense vs. Alabama pass defense: The Gators' passing game has been lacking, and Brantley still is searching for some consistent big-play threats on the perimeter. Florida isn't going to grind out a bunch of 10-, 11- and 12-play drives against the Tide; it will need some big-play scores. WRs Carl Moore and Deonte Thompson must make some plays downfield because Arkansas showed last week that the Tide's inexperienced secondary is vulnerable by passing for 357 yards. But when push came to shove, Alabama picked off Hogs QB Ryan Mallett three times, including twice in the fourth quarter.
Florida has protected Brantley well, even with some makeshift lines, and Alabama has managed just four sacks; its average of 1.0 per game ranks 103rd nationally. Edge: Even

Alabama special teams vs. Florida special teams: The Gators have deadly return men in Jenkins (punts) and Demps (kickoffs). The Tide counters with Richardson, the SEC's top kick returner; he is averaging 35.3 yards per return and has taken one back for a score. Neither team wants to have to rely on its kicker for a game-winner. Florida P Chas Henry is one of the best in the nation. UF's coverage units have been adequate, the Tide's mediocre. Edge: Even

Alabama coaching staff vs. Florida coaching staff: It's a meeting between the only coaches with two BCS titles. Nick Saban may have the top staff in America. It certainly is paid like it, led by stalwarts in defensive coordinator Kirby Smart and offensive coordinator Jim McElwain. Conversely, Meyer's staff has been radically altered in recent seasons. Offensive coordinator Dan Mullen left after 2008 to coach Mississippi State and defensive coordinator Charlie Strong departed after 2009 to become coach at Louisville. This is the first big test for new Florida defensive coordinator Teryl Austin, who had been secondary coach of the NFL's Arizona Cardinals. Edge: Alabama

X-factor: Alabama has come out of the gate smoking, already notching 56 points in the first quarter. On the other hand, the Gators have sputtered, scoring their first points (14) in the first quarter last week against Kentucky. A slow start by Florida would mean trouble.

Alabama will win if: Ingram's performance is important; if he rushes for 100 yards, the Tide win. A strong game by Ingram would mean the Tide is controlling the ball and the clock, which will take pressure off McElroy and wear down Florida's defense.

Florida will win if: The Gators need to force three or four turnovers. The Gators will need a few short fields to get some easy scores because they don't figure to have much success if they always must drive 70 or 80 yards to score.

    Expert picks

Olin Buchanan: Alabama 24, Florida 17. Alabama's running game is too powerful. Florida has benefitted from big plays and turnovers in its victories, but Alabama won't give up many of either.

Tom Dienhart: Alabama 27, Florida 20. Alabama has the offensive firepower and defensive muscle to whip a Florida team that will be done in by its inconsistent offense and the rowdy crowd in Bryant-Denny Stadium on what will be a wild Saturday night.

David Fox: Alabama 21, Florida 17. Despite last week's breakout game for the Florida offense, the Gators aren't a finished product, especially going against Alabama's defense in Tuscaloosa. Florida's defense will keep the Gators in this, but Alabama's veterans proved last week they can find a way to win.

Mike Huguenin: Alabama 24, Florida 14. This likely is the first of two meetings between these teams this season, as a return match looms in the SEC championship game. Do the Gators have enough in the passing game to take advantage of the Tide's inexperienced secondary?

Steve Megargee: Alabama 24, Florida 14. Alabama has the home-field advantage and the more experienced quarterback. Those two factors will make the difference for the Tide.
