consider the possibility that terrorist organizations would, in fact, want to effect elections

why would it require blowing stuff up if you're trying to get voters to vote a certain way based on their fear of what might happen?

This is the first reply, and may as well have been the last. I'm just going to quote this so viewers have another chance to read this, because there's really nothing else to say.

Thought this was common knowledge .. its basically.. synonymous with the terror alert we use to have.. its to gauge fear.

Psychological Warfare isn't something the American public understands or handles very well. -- our real enemies know this as well. To bad our leaders play that same game.

Wow, I actually have to say this heyslick post is actually pretty much legible, and more surprising yet, it's pretty sane.

People need to understand, Al-Qaeda's goal isn't killing people. Killing is just means to an end. The goal is to have us scared shitless so we become irrational, their hope being that we will destroy ourselves.

So far, the plan has worked pretty well. One terrorist attack and everyone goes nuts. People are afraid to get on airplanes. The government starts revoking our constitutional rights, and the public applauds it. We invade and occupy a Muslim country whose government is loosely linked to Al-Qaeda, but once we're there, we have no ? clue what to do next or how we can leave. ? at our occupation, more Muslims in the region become terrorists. We still haven't found Bin Laden, so we invade and occupy another Muslim country with links-well actually there are no links to Al-Qaeda this time, in fact, we don't really have much of an explanation to the rest of the world about this one. BUT NONETHELESS, once we're there, we have no ? idea what to do next or how we can leave. ? at our occupation, more Muslims in the region become terrorists. Back at home, we're spending trillions for this effort, and don't forget homeland security as well. The national debt is growing as a result. People getting scared of the debt, but they're scared of the terrorists and they're scared of Iran, let's attack them now! But wait, our military is still in those other two countries. ? , that's right....? it, lets just go find some Muslim Americans who are building a mosque and bully them.

Yep, 9/11 was a big win for the terrorists.

America cannot defeat this kind of enemy because they refuse to understand all the propaganda behind-it. Seriously check-out the info within this site. I honestly feel our Military brass et al haven't got enough sense to understand fire power and more troops on the ground in Afghanistan will SOMEhow bring victory home to America.....BS them insurgents defeated the Soviets & they will defeat us. Now their headed our way & they don't even have to put their boots on the ground......just ? with our heads and make them Americans scared and you'll defeat them. I told janklow years ago, even before he was a mod America CANNOT defeat this kind of enemy......period.

First the Greeks, then the Brits, then the Soviets and now the Americans.

France is really big on cracking down on culturally Islamic things that they see as not French; France is also a country that's sent military forces to some of the countries Bin Laden has a man-crush on

    Basically.

Just to clear up though Iraq wasn't a Muslim country in the sense that the Islamic Republic of Iran for example is, it was secular. Saying Iraq was a Muslim country is misleading, it's like saying France is a Christian county. It's not, even though most of its population is Christian. That's one of the reasons Saddam was supported by the West -including the US-, his internal enemy was political Islam and he founded his dictatorship on nationalism, not religion. He was actually hated by some for not putting religion in the forefront (he abolished Sharia). Tariq Aziz was a Christian, and he was Saddam's right hand man, Foreign Minister and then Prime Minister. All of which made the claim that Saddam could be linked to Ben Laden so ridiculous from the very beginning, but repeat a fallacy long enough and people will blindly volunteer to march behind the commander in chief, ? and get killed and "protect freedom" (sic). Just ask Bush.
