    World War I was arguably the single biggest boon to medical science ever. X-Rays. Blood transfusions. Strong emphasis on hospital sanitation. Medical record-keeping. Recognition of Post Traumatic Stress. Modern dentistry. Surgery that doesn't rely on amputation. Disease prevention, large scale vaccination. Rapid medical evacuation.

    It's really one of the greatest ironies of history.
