I dont blame rappers for doing this. 90% of hiphop fans are 2 dumb to get complex phors
so why should they waist time coming up with them.

i still contend that this style of rap is a great addition to the game when done correctly (see post #33 in this thread)
it just got used and abused by those who are incapable of infusing it creatively.

its a known fact big sean, the guy many people believe popularized i in the industry, had just signed with kanye and was being taught the game during this time...sean probably helped write or influenced those lines considering supa dupa flow came out before graduation

I don't see anything creative about taking the "like" out of a simile. That said, I agree that the bandwagon use of the style is worse than the style itself.

Rappers just overuse the ? . It can be effective if its interdispersed throughout with other types of punchlines. I've heard Ortiz and Lupe use the hashtag rhymes effectively.

Minaj seems to be the one that uses it the most though. It's not creative if that's ALL you're doing.

Double and triple entendres impress me way more any damn way.

You ain't ever lied. Justin Timberlake is even doing it and he doesn't rap. He even name dropped Drake on the track.

"I can read your mind, Professor X"

    "We can press rewind, VHS"

"I can bend your body, Magneto"

"You ain't never heard me talk like this, I put my Drizzy Drake on for ya"---- all lines dropped by Justin Timberlake on Diddy's "Shades"
