EXCLUSIVE: It looks like the band just might back together. Deadline hears that Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Richard Donner are all huddling on the possibility of doing another film for the the Lethal Weapon franchise. In the scenario we’ve heard Donner would direct and Channing Gibson (Lethal Weapon 4) would script. There are many moving parts, but we’ve heard that all are on board and exploring another film. It would move forward, of course, at Warner Bros., the studio that has brought audiences four in the franchise. The buddy action comedy was a major hit for the studio under the Bob Daly, Terry Semel regime when it first launched in 1987 and together the four have pulled in $955.2M worldwide. The last one was released in 1998. The film also spawned a TV series as well.
The Lethal Weapon film franchise followed an LAPD homcide cop (Glover) who is partnered with another cop who was transferred over from the narc squad (Gibson). They are reluctantly paired with very different ideas of policing and have an ongoing feud until the must rely on each other for their lives.

Danny and Mel look too damn old for a sequel. Stop it
-
They're too old for this ? . If they go with Shane Black's LW5 idea with old and retired Riggs and Murtaugh forced into one last case though I could ? with it.
-
Nah. If this was in the early or late 2000s...maybe
Unless it goes straight to DVD, I don't think people are checking for buddy cop films like that anymore. -
While they at if how about a Tango & Cash remake
-
Danny Glover look like he was bout to have a heart attack making that sweet potato pie in Almost Christmas. He need to pass on this.

The only way this works is if it's done in one of those "passing the torch" ways, where a new team steps up, and they're mentors. Then again, that might not fly either.
The franchise got the show with Damon Wayans. Best to just let that rock for a while. Don't get greedy. -
? let's do it. danny might be old as hell and mel might be crazy as ? but I ? with it

I'll pass. I still remember when Mel Gibson went on his racist rant on his gf voice mail.
