NEW YORK (Billboard) – With seven No. 1s on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally and four consecutive chart-toppers on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, Alicia Keys walks off as Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop artist of the decade.
The singer's 2001 debut album, "Songs in A Minor," reigned over Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums for six weeks and launched a pair of top 10 singles, including the multiformat smash "Fallin'."
Keys followed "Songs in A Minor" with "The Diary of Alicia Keys" (2003), "Unplugged" (2005) and "As I Am" (2007). With the exception of her third offering, each set ranks in the top 40 of the decade's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. On Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Keys' No. 1 singles have led for 41 chart weeks, more than any other artist. Among them, "No One" and "Like You'll Never See Me Again" combined for 17 consecutive weeks at No. 1.

SMFH.
R.Kelly >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> -
R Kelly didn't do anything this past decade for him to be named "R&B Artist of the Decade."
It just seems weird that Beyonce was the Female Artist of the Decade, but not the R&B Artist of the Decade. -

Beyonce is mostly pop. -
I agree with Alicia being the R&B artist of the decade, she's put in solid work each time. As I Am wasn't a bad album, it just moves slow, but her other 3 albums are on point. Mariah and Mary just have not put out their best work lately. Who else could be a contender for the top spot?

i dig it. the difference between alicia and beyonce is alicia has always been a solo artist. sings r&b and is consistent as far not being an attention ? . i love beyonce tho so i can say that lol

Alicia doesn't get pop play like Beyonce. -
Anyway Billboard is based on US sales and song chartings so yeah...
Songs In A Minor - 6 Million+
Diary Of Alicia Keys - 4 Million+
MTV Unplugged - 1 Million+
As I Am - 3.6 Million +
The Element Of Freedom - 900,000+
+Fallin', You Don't Know My Name, If I Ain't Got You, Diary, Karma, No One, Like You'll Never See Me Again, etc. -
Yeah, R Kelly has this thread on

Alicia Keys sold more albums and her singles did better on the r&b charts from 2000-2009...that's why she's Billboard's r&b artist of the decade. This is based on the #s. No opinions. Men lie, women lie, numbers don't.

Artist of the Decade isn't based off album ratings though...and Alicia is lucky this album didn't flop and the Carters bailed her out this era...because nobody was checking for her this go-round. She owes them a threesome or something in the near future because this decade could've started off in the worst way for her.
