If all things are equal, meaning the player's work ethic, determination, Heart, injury history, etc, u always take the Natural talent. Things start getting murky when other variables are injected into this scenario. But like they say, Cream always rises to the top.

doesnt matter how much someone has been coached, if they dont have talent then they will suck.

Even guys like Tom Brady who get that "hard worker" title have natural talent. He was drafted in MLB as a pitcher as well so he must naturally have a good throwing arm.

Sports are much more MENTAL than you think. No matter the talent or the coaching, if someone cant get their head straight then they will fail.

some who been coached since they were little(someone who has worked and worked on their craft over the years)

? given talent is nice but if you have no work ethic its all for not you dont want to do the extra things that make the greats who they are .......

Randy Moss or Jerry Rice as an example............

the person who has been coached. Bc they will understand the game much better than the person with natural talent. But it would be nice to have the both together

    COACHING

I'd rather have someone who's mechanically and mentally ready for the game, and will know what to do in certain situations when there's a jam. They'll already know how to play the game instead of throwing them to the wolves to see what they can pick up and do while the game is going on and then evaluating their contribution to the game for the time they were in there after the game to work on the basics.

Athletic players are fun to watch, they put butts in seats because they are natural freaks of nature that do incredible feats, but they dumb the game down. Josh Smith (Atlanta Hawks), for example, came right out of high school and was known for being a shot blocker and a dunker because he as a natural ability to leap. Other aspects of his game are left unpolished because he's been given a pass just for those two attributes. Now he has to learn to do the basic things a big man does while playing in the pros. He's still learning to develop a face up jumper, he's still learning post moves, he's still learning things most big men learn by their sophomore/junior year in college. If he actually went to college and worked with someone who taught him these basics, then he'd be a lot better than he is right now 5-6 years pro, instead, he has the skills of a rookie/2nd year player, but he has youth on his side, so that's an intangible that works in his favor.

Someone who has been coached since they were little.

Very rarely does a guy using just natural talent do well for your team.

I want a guy coming in who can play, follow the playbook, has a team first mentality, is all about winning, etc...

Guys with just natural talent and no coaching tend to be divas who are bad for a team and care only about their self.

    Natural Talent - Vince Carter
Coached since little - Kobe Bryant

its actually the other way around
vince carter went to college and got more "coaching" and skill development
kobe came into a professional environment on natural ability alone

Carter's only problem was his heart and desire to win, plus he was coached into college

Who's the judge of who is naturally talented and who is well coached?

Is Serge Ibaka of the Thunder considered naturally talented because has only 4 years of basketball period under his belt? Is a short big ? like Glen Davis considered well coached or naturally talented? Seems like this one is gonna be hard to pin down.

    Vince - athletic freak

    Kobe - hard worker

And you are WRONG. Vince got more COLLEGE level coaching, but Kobe got more professional NBA level coaching from the best coach of all time.

..and so..put kobe with all of VC's coaches and he would excel..put vince with phil jackson and he wont excel....kobe has heart
and kobe is an athlectic freak/hard worker/natural talent.....so this ? is hard to pin down..for real
