Colorado Beer Laws Set To ? -Down On Low-Alcohol Beer In Liquor Stores, Bars

s-BEER-large.jpg

The Colorado Liquor Enforcement Division has issued new regulations that seek to ? down on the sale of low-strength beer in restaurants and liquor stores. The crackdown could prevent bars from serving beers such as Michelob Ultra, Heineken Light and and Corona Light.

While it has technically been illegal for restaurants and liquor stores to sell beer below 4% alcohol-by-volume for years, the Liquor Enforcement Division has rarely enforced the rule.

A 2010 lobbying effort, however, resulted in legislation that will force the state to enforce the rule, just as it enforces a law that prevents grocery and convenience stores from selling stronger liquor.
