I call and say there was a fathers day bbq i nothing about that my family is going to and would like me to go.

I would use illness, transportation issues, or some kind of personal emergency. I WOULD NOT call off work and tell them it's cause I'm going to a barbeque.

Man, transportation issues isn't gonna work, they know it's ? . I used that when I was ? 19 and she said, "there's no one else? Is there a bus nearby?"
Seriously, just go to work lol if it's that bad in order for you to miss, then someone in your fam died but don't get caught up in a lie later on. -

Say you have a family member is sick. That's my favorite excuse, although thankfully it's never true. Or say you have to take your grandmother to the hospital for an appointment. Just be creative.

I said i need a personal day.
True story one of my close homies died 5 days ago. So i said im going to his wake and moms house afterwards. Even thought there is no wake and the funeral is next week. -
