More Gears of War 3 DLC On the Way

Play as a former boss.

Gears of War 3's first DLC isn't even out yet, but Microsoft has already detailed the next downloadable pack. RAAM's Shadow was announced today and will offer the first additional campaign content for the game. According to design director Cliff Bleszinski, it's "the biggest DLC release we've ever made."

RAAM's Shadow is a prequel to the original Gears of War and will offer three new hours of gameplay. It takes place in Sera just after emergence day, as "Zeta Squad is enlisted to evacuate Ilima City and protect the citizens against a Locust Kryll storm."

Gamers will play as Zeta Squad, which includes Michael Barrick from the Gears of War graphic novels, Minh Young Kim from Gears of War, Tai Kaliso from Gears of War 2 and new character Alicia Valera. General RAAM, the final boss of the original Gears of War, will also be playable.

"RAAM's imposing size and strength, along with his Kryll shield, make him one of the most powerful and daunting foes in the 'Gears' universe," Bleszinski said. "We think fans are going to have a blast unleashing hell upon the poor humans for the first time in a campaign setting."

RAAM's Shadow will be available on December 13th for 1,200 Microsoft Points. It will be free to anyone who purchased a Gears of War 3 season pass.
