Countries around the world marked the world's population reaching 7 billion Monday with lavish ceremonies for newborn infants symbolizing the milestone and warnings that there may be too many humans for the planet's resources.
While demographers are unsure exactly when the world's population will reach the 7 billion mark, the U.N. is using Monday to symbolically mark the day.
A string of festivities are being held worldwide, with a series of symbolic 7-billionth babies being born.

Its not to many people in the world.. we just have to figure out how to logistically feed, cloth, and shelter everyone cause theres an ample supply of resources. The problem is that greedy westerners and higher income producing countries who can consume of upwards 30x's the amount of the average Kenyan/ low wage earner.

I'm glad that I'll never have biological children.

I'm optimistic that science will come up with a solution, though.

oh the Peak oil ? 10 yrs? not even close..plus I feel like thats one big attempt to support an underlying agenda. But theres so many other forms of alternative energy... but oil is easily the most profitable.... right now. As of now we in Libya, Iraq .. we can go up into the arctic, the atlantic coast.. Afghanistan... and so forth... by raising fuel economy standards you can further reduce your dependency on oil.. theres just not enough economic incentive ... trust when we start paying a shytload for a gallon like they do in the UK... people will be more motivated to produce an alternative

    Why would you say that?

When the population increases, it's carbon footprint increases. A large carbon footprint will exacerbate climate change (the effects of which will be felt for another 1000 years even if we stopped emitting green house gases into the atmosphere today). More children = more climate change which will mean more drought, famine, tropical disease etc. How is not wanting to contribute to climate change asexual or sociopathic, you funny guy?
