what are the odds we see a return to form for rampage this weekend?
the japanese crowd should motivate him the way he's been craving.

Ben "Smooth" Henderson or Frankie "The Answer" Edgar? should be fast paced fight filled with fireworks...

Akiyama will have the homefield advantage for his fight with Jake Shields. Will it make a difference?

pettis vs lauzon has the potential to be a great fight too...

Shields will hug his way toa win over Aki.

rampage will ? Bader in the first round faster than you can say tito ortiz.

I think Pettis will beat lauzon via decision, but dont be surprised if lauzon somehow pulls off the upset.

Benson Henderson brought in Dominick Cruz to prepare for Frankie Edgar
    Posted by Joe Rice

There are few fighters who can match lightweight champion Frankie Edgar’s combination of speed and striking. However, while the challenge in finding an opponent to replicate the UFC title-holder’s attack might be significant, top 155-pound contender Benson Henderson typically pasts most tests he takes and it appears he’s done so once again with flying colors.

According to “Bendo”, UFC bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz joined his camp this time around to help him get ready for his headlining bout this weekend against Edgar at UFC 144.

He’s a bit quicker and faster than I am,” said Henderson of Cruz in a conversation with Five Ounces of Pain. “He can emulate Frankie and help me deal with the speed and footwork Edgar possesses. Other than that it’s all the same guys, a bunch of hungry guys trying to make a name for themselves.”

Based on how ready he feels, Henderson believes fans should be in for a real treat on Saturday night when the claws come out against Edgar.

“This fight is going to be good. It’ll be like two cats trapped inside of a bag,” explained the confident 28-year old. “He’s a pretty aggressive fighter who moves a lot, but he remains very active and goes after it. He’s not a guy who will get on the bike and not engage. He moves around a lot, but comes to fight each and every time. We both have aggressive natures so you can expect us to get after it and put on a great fight.”

Catch UFC 144 on PPV along with six other fights destined for the main card when things start up at 10:00 PM EST.

Wow, that's a brilliant move bringing in Cruz. I still think Frankie's gonna whoop that ass

Antonio “Big Foot” Silva: “Alistair Overeem is a lion but Junior dos Santos will turn him into a kitten when he hits him”
February 18, 2012 All MMA News, UFC Comments

Former EliteXC heavyweight champion, Antonio “Big Foot” Silva has been giving his thoughts on the UFC heavyweight title clash between Junior dos Santos and Alistair Overeem later this year, predicting his fellow Brazilian will turn “The Reem” into a kitten when he lays his gloves on him.

Speaking via Portal do Vale Tudo, Silva said:

“In a fight, anything can happen. They are two very strong fighters, top of the category. I don’t see how Overeem can beat [Dos Santos]. Overeem is a lion, but when [Dos Santos] hits him, he’ll turn into a kitten. Overeem’s fighting spirit will return to the locker room when [Dos Santos] lands a punch.”

Dos Santos captured the title on the first UFC on FOX card in November, knocking out Cain Velasquez in the first round. Prior to that he’d defeated the likes of Fabricio Werdum, Roy Nelson and Mirko Cro Cop inside the octagon. Overeem made his octagon debut a month later on the UFC 141 card in Las Vegas, stopping former champion Brock Lesnar in the first round via TKO. Prior to that he’d eased to a unanimous decision win over Fabricio Werdum under the Strikeforce banner.

Breaking | Nate Marquardt Back With ZUFFA | Signed To Strikeforce

Just announced on the UFC’s weekly news show “UFC Tonight”, Nate Marquardt has been signed by Strikeforce and the promotion hopes to debut him against Tryon Woodley for the vacant Strikeforce welterweight title.

Nate Marquardt was fired by the UFC when he failed to disclose his use of Tesosterone Replacement Therapy and as a result was forced to withdraw from his scheduled main event on the Versus network.

He originally signed on with the BAMMA organization in the United Kingdom but the promotion failed to deliver on his contract terms and released him before booking a fight.

Nate has remained inactive since his last UFC fight against Dan Miller at UFC 128.

Rashad Evans Fought Phil Davis With Three Broken Ribs

“Going into that fight I wanted to make sure I negated Phil’s wrestling ability. He has a high level of wrestling and I thought I could out wrestle him so that’s what I was trying to do. That whole camp was a tough camp for me; about a week before the fight I broke three ribs sparring. I broke three ribs so I was like you know what I’m just gonna go out there and see what happens.”

During his time on the CSSSPorts show with Jon Jones, former UFC champion Rashad Evans explained his gameplan going into his last fight with Phil Davis and went on to say that he took that fight with three broken ribs.

Anyone think that may have affected his performance?

UFC Boss Pays $1.1 Million For Muhammad Ali Gloves | Bob Aru

    Postby BigSexy » Tue Feb 21, 2012 6:52 pm
    http://bjpenn.com/mmanews/2012/02/21/ufc-boss-pays-1-1-million-for-muhammad-ali-gloves-15131.html

UFC Head Honcho Lorenzo Fertitta did a good deed recently and got a bit of redemption in the process.

In a charity auction geared towards raising money for brain research through the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky, Fertitta bid $1.1 million for a pair of Ali’s gloves and won.

The gloves he purchased where the same gloves Ali wore in his 1965 heavyweight title fight in Las Vegas, Nevada in his victory over Floyd Patterson.

Fertitta also got to hear long time UFC detractor and boxing promoter Bob Arum say that “He loves the UFC.”

According to reports, the bidding stalled out at around $750k and Fertitta put in a special condition that he would bid higher if Arum would concede to the fact that he loved the UFC.

For those who are unaware, Bob Arum has gone on record countless times bashing the UFC and promoting his own sport in the process. Most notably he has called MMA fighters “Homosexuals” who like to roll on the ground together.

    Good Job Lorenzo!
