Is your LAN type set to: open?

If it is set to strict or moderate, it may cause problems.

Mine randomly changed one day, I had to change it back.

You can check your settings on the MW2 xbox live menu. You have to access your router to change the settings though.

when i had wired router...my mw2 status was random..sumtimes open, mdoerate, strict....soon as i got wireless it was always open n i even noticed better connection...got better connection in pro evo aswell...

but my router just disconnects every now n then...

Maybe someone trying to steal your signal. Do you have security set up?

sometimes it might not even be the router, like i have comcast and the modem just drops the signal, lights go out and i get dropped, goes back up...times it takes to get back up vary, usually it's only a few seconds
