The last time I had a wireless, I could only use the default connection and that never worked. Do you have to pay extra for a secure connection, how do you get it? Do they come with secure connections and a password and I just didn't know this.

Help me out, yo.

What OS are you using? What brand is your laptop? Go to your laptop's manufacturer website and get the latest wireless driver. No you don't have to pay extra for a secure connection, security is pre-built in your wireless router (assuming you have one).
No laptops do not come with secure connections and passwords, you have to set that up using your wireless router.
Let me know if I can assist you any further.
    All the best.
