'Cutting edge, original' new game may be for next-gen consoles.

A new job listing reveals that Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics is working on “a cutting edge, original IP.”

According to the listing, Crystal Dynamics is seeking an animation engineer “to collaborate with industry leading animators and programmers to create a cutting edge, original IP.” The listing specifically mentions “third-person action adventure AAA titles” and seeks a candidate with expertise in physics, 3D graphics/rendering, AI, player systems, cameras, networking and game tools.

A listing of responsibilities also hints that the new property could be for next-generation consoles. While the listing now says the position will require the candidate to “spec out improvements to existing tools and develop bleeding edge new tools as required,” a previous version of the listing specifically referred to collaborating with “a talented game team to develop and iterate on next-gen animation systems” and called the project "a cutting edge, original IP for future platforms.”

Crystal Dynamics hasn’t officially announced the project or any details, but we’ve reached out for comment just in case they have anything to say. The developer is currently hard at work on Tomb Raider, which will hit stores on March 5, 2013.
