Kaz Hirai and Jack Tretton are probably smiling somewhere, as Sony has officially cleaned up the E3 2012 Game Critics Awards with the PlayStation 3 exclusive The Last of Us. Naughty Dog’s highly anticipated game took home honors for ”Best of Show,” “Best Original Game,” “Best Console Game,” “Best Action/Adventure Game,” and even a “Special Commendation for Sound” award.

In fact, just about the only overall “Best Game” award The Last of Us didn’t win was one where the console companies didn’t qualify. On that note, XCOM: Enemy Unknown won the nod for “Best PC Game” of the show.

Just as a reminder, the GCA panel is administered among a collection of judges from the industry’s biggest media outlets, including EGM. Here’s the full awards list with all the winners and their relevant consoles:

Best of Show: The Last of Us
Best Original Game: The Last of Us
Best Console Game: The Last of Us
Best Handheld/Mobile Game: Sound Shapes
Best PC Game: XCOM: Enemy Unknown
Best Hardware/Peripheral: Wii U
Best Action Game: Halo 4
Best Action/Adventure Game: The Last of Us
Best Role Playing Game: South Park: The Stick of Truth
Best Fighting Game: Injustice: Gods Among Us
Best Racing Game: Need for Speed Most Wanted
Best Sports Game: FIFA Soccer 13
Best Strategy Game: XCOM: Enemy Unknown
Best Social/Casual Game: Dance Central 3
Best Motion Simulation Game: Dance Central 3
Best Online Multiplayer: Halo 4
Best Downloadable Game: Unfinished Swan
Special Commendations for Graphics: Star Wars 1313, Watch Dogs
Special Commendation for Sound: The Last of Us
Special Commendation for Innovation: Watch Dogs

In total, Sony Computer Entertainment took home seven publisher-specific awards, with Microsoft topping out at four awards.

EA, 2K Games, and Ubisoft netted two apiece, while Nintendo, THQ, Warner Bros., and LucasArts each grabbed a single award.

Even though Nintendo managed to get a “Best Hardware” Award for the Wii U itself, the company noticeably didn’t win a single award for any of their games on display at the show. Considering how strong the competition was, it’s not surprising—only something in the vein of a new Zelda HD, Metroid, or Super Smash Bros. game could’ve seriously put them in the running.
