I never really read comics before I been really looking forward to start getting into some recently. Only question I have is should I start by reading the Marvel comics or start with DC. And which comic from either company should I start with?
Thanks for any help in advance.

I would say start with marvel and Thor..he spends a lot of time amongst cosmics and on earth you can gauge the entire spectrum and also he is a big name character. Just my suggestion.

thanks for the help

There probably isn't a right answer to this question.

I feel that but im just looking for some ideas on where to start. -
You should probably start with a character you were interested in from a movie or old tv show.
You may find out you don't like them as much after you start reading comics though.
That happened to me with Spiderman. -
DC is completely rebooted. Easy to jump on to any of their comics. Marvel is about to go thru a reboot in october with a lot of characters. Get everything that looks cool to you.
-
start by picking up a classic graphic novel like Watchmen, Year One or Dark Knight Returns
or if you want to buy individual books now is the perfect time to get into DC because of the reboot -
Yo with the reboots, does that mean the current Marvel titles Uncanny X-Force, X-Men Legacy, etc are just going to stop?
Or is the reboot just an alternative? -
Problem with me is if I start reading comics, I gotta go all the way to the beginning. Thor sounds like a good idea. And I'm thinking Marvel might be easier to get into the DC. thanks for all the help so far though.

That's what I am doing with the X-Men. Did you see my thread on it?
-
Reboot means the current books are closing and when they come back in the reboot there won't be continuity. You bring back dead people and teams look a little different. Revamping the idea of the comic universe under your umbrella (DC, marvel etc)
-
@sunflowaseed Yea I saw your thread. props on that. I'm thinking of doing the same exact thing but maybe reading either the hulk or thor
-
You should track it with a thread too... haha if you feel like it, I know it can be a lot of work.
@Evoljeanyes- so basically this version of marvel we've known just ceases to exist? -
yea seeing your thread I'll track with with a thread too. All I need though is to decide where to start. its a hard choice when you consider the fact that some of these comics started in the 50s and 60s.

^All Hulk appearances up until like 1986 i think

^Same for Thor -
oh ? . thanks. that's gonna help.
-
Yeah they won't move forward with any storyline. There may be crossovers.
-
I don't like that.

Marvel has said that their "reboot" is gonna keep the continuity from the history of the previous books. Hence why the "Uncanny Avengers" team will come together as a direct result of the Avengers vs. X-Men series. (((SMDH @ Havok being the leader of that team))).
Also, they won't reboot everything all at once like DC did. -
I like that

Whos in Uncanny Avengers again? i think it was Scarlet Witch, Havok, Thor, and Ironman? is there more?? wonder whats gonna happen at the end of AvX. better be big.
I hope a lot of titles dont get rebooted. The current Punisher and Winter Soldier are dope. as well as venom and red hulk.

Lol @ Havok leading that crew.

Good look @mindbender122
