@Black Jerry Maguire:
I would start with the CunninLynguists then, I've made an artist of the month thread about them here:
Artist of the Month: CunninLynguists - A Decade of Genius
I'd start with them as their production is southern (in many ways), although Kno is able to produce many sounds. On the flip side, their rhymes are witty & clever, as well as being one of the greatest groups of the 2000s.
Then if you feel more East Coast, check out Masta Ace's: A Long Hot Summer, as that's a classic & was recognised as being a likely future one when it dropped around 2004, by allhiphop and posters here (by that I mean The Reason too).
If you're a big fan of Little Brother, you'll love The Foreign Exchange, as that's Phonte from Little Brother with a talented producer from the Netherlands, Nicolay.
Start with those & by all means make a thread about each album you listen to & heads will put you on & join in as to how good the albums are. -

You're welcome. Keep checking back, there's a lot of stuff to cover, but if you've never checked the underground/independent section, then it's an exciting time for you.
