Nintendo Details Wii U's Deluxe Digital Promotion
More reason to take a look at the pricier Wii U option.
by Richard George OCTOBER 30, 2012

Back in September, alongside unveiling Wii U's price and launch date, Nintendo announced a special digital promotion that would accompany the system's Deluxe Set. Today the publisher offered more details.

According to Nintendo, the promotion, which is only available to consumers who buy the Deluxe Set, allows Wii U owners "who purchase digital content for Wii U, including downloadable games in the Nintendo eShop for Wii U and download codes sold at select retail stores, will earn points with a value equivalent to approximately 10 percent of the Nintendo eShop list price of each purchase."

Earned points are then converted into credit that can be redeemed on the Nintendo 3DS or Wii U eShops. Every 500 points is worth $5 of in-store currency, so New Super Mario Bros. U, which has a MSRP of $59.99, will earn you 599 points - which translates into $5 of eShop credit with 99 points leftover.

The promotion will be in effect through December 31, 2014, and will require the use of a Nintendo Network ID and password to access account details, such as points earned, as well as redeem those points for eShop credit. All points must be converted by June 30, 2015, but existing credit will not expire.

Nintendo also emphasized that this promotion only works through Deluxe bundle systems, and will not apply to eShop purchases made through Wii, Wii U Basic systems or the Nintendo 3DS.

The best online rewards program of all the consoles IMO. 360's is not bad though. Does PSN even have a Rewards program? I remember that ? gettin announced with no details years ago...then delayed indefinitely.
