Man I was burnt watching the end of season 3

Stringer saved Marlo by rating out Avon, Marlo was stupid, dude at the rim shop tried to warn him but he was way too over confident and was slippin' hard, dude was in the middle of a war out in the open right after one of the boss's of a rival crew got killed. That is luck, nothing to do with skill or inteligence or tactical maneuvering, just luck. Them raiding Avon's safe house before they got to ride on Marlo was hard to watch almost as bad as Omar getting killed.

    This.

Also while luck played an significant part -- actually people tend to downplay the two most important things that really helped Marlo.............

    1. The Towers going down -- Think of the Towers like The Carter (New Jack City) -- heavily fortified with foot soldiers, a big ass death trap from all angles. A base of power for that exact reason.

    2. The cutback of funding for the Baltimore PD --- With not enough funding to help "natural" police, it leaves alot of stuff unchecked everyday. And let's not forget the cutback on funding was a political move through and through the ex mayor (with the help of Annapolis) did that as a way to ? over Carcetti, and leave him with a problem (between a rock and a hard place by either cutting back the PD or the Education -- if he had cut back the Education, he would never been able to run for Governor later)/

The game works in it's own weird way, but Marlo disrespected the game the way he was playing, Marlo was eventually heading for a bigger downfall at the end of the Wire (had it kept going) ...he did too much damage and that was going to be answered for one way or the other.

Yes marlo would have been killed if it were not for Detective Mcnulty being so interested in taking down Stringer and the Barkssdale organization. Lets not forget the major crimies unit was supposed to be focused on Kintell Williams. Had it not been for Mcnulty and his persistence they would not even have known Barksdale got out of jail and he would have merced all competition because thats what the King does.
