Best album out of the west coast so far for 2013, straight west coast ? , This is the ? that i ? with because i am from that era BUT THIS EP IS NOT DATED, the album is produced by Brenk Sinatra and Scratches by DJ Premier but i playing this ? more than Kendrick Lamar's GKMC. WEST COAST needed this ep in my opinion.....STRONG ARM STEADY, MITCHY SLICK, GOLDIE LOC, and MC EHIT still making that vintage west coast ? . *dust off the chucks, grap the Raider cap, put on the dickies and dark blue champion sweater and hop in the suv and drift back in time with ep playing*

MC Eiht is Compton’s biggest legend in the underground hip hop circuit. Since his solo album dropped in 1994, he has been rapping about the infamous and cruel street life that so many live every day. His stellar guest spot in last year’s best rap album, Kendrick Lamar’s good kid m.A.A.d city, brought Eiht back to the game he helped create.
Keep It Hood is an ep of seven songs where Mc Eiht delivers as usual. This time his rhymes are backed up by Brenk Sinatra on production duties and with scratches by DJ Premier. The sound is 100% old school and soulful which gives the album a really refreshing vibe. Now that rap artists are focused on sounding more “club” than ever, it is the task of legends like Mc Eiht to come back and teach newcomers what the real essence of hip hop is.
Eiht’s voice sounds great, providing interesting and evocative lines about L.A’s street life. The beats and production are dreamy, simple, and have great hooks like in the album closer “Make Me Some Mo”. Album opener “Where You Going 2” and first single, is a mellow but invigorating tune full of flavor that serves as an appetizer of what’s to come in the next twenty-one minutes.
A surprisingly fresh ep that makes you wonder that if Mc Eiht decides to release an album this solid, 2013 will be his year.
Keep It Hood was released on January 4, 2013 by Bluestamp Music Group.
