Its funny how when you find happiness and love, articles like this make you laugh.

Even if I got divorced and ended up back on the market (? forbid!), my husband, men I've encountered in my social circles and profession, and a handful of you fine men on the IC have opened my eyes to how many good, quality black men there are out there. It ain't that damn dire out here.

You are what you attract. When I was out here doing hoodrat ? with my friends, I attracted bummy hoodrat ? .

It's always single ugly ? writing this ? when they could be bent over the bed getting ? and loved on by their nonexistent man.

    Nothing to see here folks.

Maybe mostly. I'm sure you still had some decent dudes approach you (assuming you were at least reasonably attractive). You either just assumed they were the same, or you weren't attracted to that type at the time.

Overall, black woman-centric discussion in this and similar spaces I found is not concerned with black men despite them being a topic. There is no wailing and moaning about why black men won’t change. There is no impatient demand that black men get themselves together. Or a lot of wincing for them to “come home” from non-black women. African American men simply have caused a lot of irreparable damage to themselves and the women in their group. And no amount of excuses, finger-pointing or demands that black women shut up about their experiences is going to change that.

This is probably the most telling and most important part of the article.

Unfortunately, I think the fragile egos of men will prevent them from taking anything constructive from this. The whole discussion of problems that we face have always been framed as being Black women's fault, from Steve Harvey and Tyler Perry. However, a lot of the dialogue never really centers on brothers learning to have better relationships with Black women and how racism contributes to them being unable to fully open up about how they can negatively effect sisters.

I can take all the bad rep, since I'm use to it, but you are right and most black men do not want to change from ? mongers, dead beats, sex addicts, drug addicts, chasing all the different races of women throughout the world, selling drugs, not going to school, living with their mother, etc due to not having higher standards. Black women and black men and the individual have failed them. Society takes advantage and pushes for that kind of backwater mentality as well and for black women. They need to wake up and smell the roses that they need to be an example and strengthen their community since no one is gonna do it for you. You just have to take care of your responsibilities and make it YOU and than you can preach to everyone about it and show them the true growth and progress.

Get rid of the Celtic mindset and foolishness and regain true principles and ideology to help your communities.

That said most human beings in general arent worth a ? so its not necessarily race centric. The only real problem is people dont realize the person they attract says a lot about them. Easier to blame others than look internally.

If your Girlfriends are all attractive but stupid it says you're shallow.

If your boyfriends keep beating you it says you need to learn to ? or keep your hands to yourself.

They things you go through in your relationships say a lot about YOU more than they say about the other person. And until everybody white, black or otherwise can admit that they will continue on that same bitter road. Not to say that everything is YOUR fault. But your reaction to everything because your responsibility.

i can agree with that. it kinda goes back to the 'you are what you attract' thing. and people don't want to admit they have horrible decision making when it comes to the opposite sex.

    yes, yes

when it comes sexism black men ( not all but more than a few) are either silent, in denial and/or quick to invoke their patriarchal privilege

take for example, in regards to issues that effect blk women in particular like single motherhood, domestic violence, and poverty they rather question a woman's moral character, emotional/mental state, intelligence, etc instead of addressing the challenges sexism as well as racism pose for these women

and no its not just black men, its all men. the opportunity to degrade/objectify women never fails to bring them together

Black women have it incredibly rough in this world, I will agree that a lot of Black men don't recognize that or do anything to help them. Black men got it hard but Black women have it twice as hard being double minorities.

    yes, yes

when it comes sexism black men ( not all but more than a few) are either silent, in denial and/or quick to invoke their patriarchal privilege

take for example, in regards to issues that effect blk women in particular like single motherhood, domestic violence, and poverty they rather question a woman's moral character, emotional/mental state, intelligence, etc instead of addressing the challenges sexism as well as racism pose for these women

and no its not just black men, its all men. the opportunity to degrade/objectify women never fails to bring them together

Sexism is not as bad for black women as racism is bad for black men. Not even close. It is more acceptable to Non-Black America to be black if you're a woman than if a man. Far more.
