Lemzola, I think I get what you are trying to say and agree to a certain extent.
Rex has valid points as well.
But no one can generalize all men and women into one category.

i just wanted to add some more explanation to the puzzle. Its a very good thread -
True society does this. And also shuts out many opportunities by going with the flow or basing decisions on outward appearance. Also I said we all don't fit into one generalization, not that we don't generalize.
I'm not in that category as far as the example you used-
I'd probably take the dude driving the Taurus. Money and status aren't the highest thing on my list when I consider a potential mate, there are more important things. Is it nice? Sure.
But yes I do agree with you that the guy with the Lambo probably is getting way more.

in my experience women will date men that dont fit in with society's views of what is attractive as long as he can build attraction with her, which isn't uber hard if you're not completely inept

We are in a society where you fell the need to be number one in every area of your life instead of what you re a loser.
Some people seek to dominate even when it come to relationships. Some like to pick in the insecure pool some in the less rich one and some in the less atractive pool.
The irony of it its that they are the most insecure.
Rich Men tend to get women financially dependent. And pretty women sometimes and cause of the aforementioned reasons will seek a less attractive man.
However we must not underlook the power of the personality. It s a part that is considered useless in materialistic societies but people with a strong one can get past the conventions.
In France there were a singer composer named GAISNBOURG. He was super ugly! But he ? the nicest famous woman of his era BRIGITTE BARDOT. That guy has a undescriptible swagg , charisma. Google that name you ll see
