The album cover strongly suggests the Downward Spiral cover a little. That's because it was created by the same person, Russel Mills. The video for the first single "came back haunted" was directed by David Lynch so that was kind of dope. Judging by what was released so far, that song along with "copy of a" had a very synth driven, droning, haunting sound. pretty similar to how Pretty Hate Machine was. so im thinking this was going to be a more updated version of that. then Trent threw a curve ball that i didnt expect by releasing the 3rd track "everything".

When i first heard it, i thought it was one of those jokes on youtube where the person gains your attention by stating its an exclusive track by an established band and when u click on it, u instead hear some imitation knockoff playing some other ? . but no, this was really NIN. Im thinking, wtf this sounds too upbeat and pop-like to really be them. either theyre trolling or releasing music for the soundtrack to 90210 or Melrose Place. but the more i listened, the more im feeling it. its like he's channeling his inner Cure/Joy Division with a little Jesus and Mary Chain. i listened to all those people too so that might be why i developed a liking for it. all 3 songs are solid. although im not really sure which direction he's going in now

good stuff.. thanks for the heads up. that Lynch video is the ? - hadn't heard the other 2 songs but like them both now. Trent came back hard with Year Zero, The Slip was aight but been waiting for another serious album.. this looks like it'll be it.

you heard the new Front Line Assembly? that's really good along with the new Skinny Puppy.. Trent seems to be going the route of the new FLA and SP in how he's cutting down on the guitars and trying to get back to a pure throwback electronic sound and song structure (just in his own way - totally agree with the Cure/Joy Division vibe). saw FLA last week with Haujobb - seen them a few times but this is the first time they had no live guitar player and only played either songs from the new album or early songs from like Caustic Grip and Tactical Neural Implant - couple of Hard Wired/Millennium songs in the encore but with just sampled guitar parts.

Nice. No i didnt hear the new FLA. I did hear the new skinny puppy. but thanks for the heads up as im a fan of both bands. those tracks are dope. and yes both do seem to be moving back to the electro industrial sound that made them famous. ministry is also dropping a new one (from beer to eternity) as they are another one of my favorites. i always considered them SP, and FLA to be the holy trinity of indutrial. but from what ive heard so far they seem to be taking a more thrash metal approach on this record. so im assuming it will sound more like psalm 69 than the land of ? and honey

So far is getting good reviews. It currently has a 73/100 at metacritic. the general consensus seems to be that this album has less of the trademark electronic dissonance and guitar angst of albums like downward spiral and broken and more of a structured, sophisticated, sound collage. im still searching for the torrent file to download

gonna pick it up today - haven't heard any samples so saving it after i blaze

listened to the samples on Amazon today for From Beer to Eternity.. ? that album sounds amazing - like a convergence of so many Ministry sounds, it sounds surprisingly Industrial - like somewhere between Psalm 69 and Filth Pig and leaning on the experimental side

Just heard the album. and i loved it. although be warned, its not your usual NIN sound, but its still grounded in industrial and still contains the signature characteristics of the band. u can def. tell trent has progressed and matured, and rightfully so. he's 48, married, and has children. if this album reverted back to the downward spiral days or had anything other than a matured or refined feel, it just wouldnt seem genuine at this point. many of the songs have that pulsating danceable feel to it. slightly edm, but more layered. highly recommendable. the track satellite goes hard

Hell yea. it does improve with each additional listen. def. one of the better albums released this year. but given this band's history u cant expect anything less. and sadly, this project will get ignored on this forum. as ? on here would rather listen to effeminate, limp-wristed ? like the weeknd

yup same here - its right under Year Zero which i thought was amazing and one of the best comeback albums ever. its ahead of The Slip which i thought was cool but nothing special. its about 100 notches above With Teeth which i though was ass juice.

KMFDM is the ? another classic band- i haven't pick up the very latest one yet (Kunts? or someshit) but i literally own every other album and single. my top 5 albums are Money, Naive (original orange version), Angst, Xtort, and Symbols. honorable mention to Adios

Year Zero was an amazing album. I'm glad to see some industrial fans on this board.
