Some residents of the southern Chinese city of Yulin started gathering last weekend and eating dog meat and lychees to celebrate the longest day of the year, ahead of Saturday's actual solstice, state media reported.
The locals wanted to avoid protests which have in recent years seen the festival, slaughterhouses and markets selling dogs targeted as part of a social media campaign and ongoing online petition against the practice.

The thing I don't get about these guys and their disgusting cuisine is whenever they eat some nasty ? like this it looks like they don't even use any seasoning or spices. Also, if I'm gonna eat dog I'm gonna need it to be properly butchered and braised, roasted, smoked or grilled depending on the cut.
They just Peking roast the whole ? thing and call it a day which is pretty lazy. -

The funny ? is that they only try to hide the ? when they move here and open a restaurant. If you are actually in China, they're very open about the fact that they eat dogs. They don't try to hide it.
