when it really comes down to it...
i think optimus prime is prolly the greatest alien superhero of all time.....
look at dc's superman, and for the hell of it goku....
both of them were aliens sent to earth..and they pretty much grew up with little to no knowledge that they were aliens.until they started developing their powers...once they realized they weren't earthlings..instead of conquering earth they defended it....which was pretty noble.....
but let's be real.....they both had numerous friendships and relationships....they both had people they considered family....and they had a sense of connection tot he planet like an adopted child..so was their loyalty genuine? or just a sense of obligation...
where as optimus knew earth wasn't his home planet....knew this for fact.....and in all reality....megatron was extremely easy to side with.....he just wanted to make earth the new cybertron....something all cybertronians really wanted...even the autobots were homesick as ? ...but they just ran with optimus cuz his G was that strong.....
Optimus had no obligation to humans, no reason to be loyal..in fact people constantly viewed autobots as just as much of a threat as decepticons.....but optimus still rode for earth.......

You know the one thing that ? me off about Prime tho? The fact that he could've BEEN deaded Megatron. Well in the comics it seem.
But it seem like he didn't wanna do it bcuz he felt he could get Megatron to see his perspective. Like he wanted to change him. -

Well, in the animated movie, he was about to pull the trigger on Megatron, literally. But, as we all know, Hot Rod's ? ass had to get in the way.

He is the main reason why Season 3 of GA Transformers is almost unwatchable to me. The only thing that salvaged that season was Galvatron being batshit crazy. -
