Based on what is actually happening, has happened and on real science:
http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2014/10/27/ebola-wars
It is a must read.
It is kind of long. Here are the highlights:
-- You should be afraid, very afraid. The virus has the potential to do great damage to humanity, especially to the seriously affected areas of West Africa.
-- White people are not immune to the virus and some have died or nearly died from it.
-- The virus is mutating and is not a single entity. There is evidence that it is getting more contagious.
-- The best hope right now in terms of treatment is a drug called ZMapp: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZMapp
-- A lot goes into creating enough ZMapp to treat even one patient, and not nearly enough is being done to develop this promising drug, and what is being done is proceeding much too slowly: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/oct/17/us-labs-proposals-produce-ebola-drug-zmapp
-- There is no evidence that it is airborne, but even if it isn't, there are other ways it could become more contagious.

OK I'm scared
Are you happy now? -
The article also tells the story of how the African doctor who was in charge of treating Ebola patients in Sierra Leone and who gave so much in doing his job died without being given ZMabb. ? is messed up, since it seems that his death without it was certain. (At that point it hadn't been tried on humans yet, but what's the worse that could happen given that he was dying anyway?)

Hey, man I saw you rummaging in my garbage can last night, what gives?

If we spent as much money on medicine as we do on war we would be better prepared for these kinds of things
-
.......So all it takes is one infected person to go in the gym sweat all over the machines, benches, and scrape his shins on the bar doing deadlifts, not wash his hands after using the bathroom, and the whole city is ruined.

Overlay that picture with this article http://businessdayonline.com/2014/04/exploration-in-west-africa-looking-up/#.VFrHUGK9KSP
It may (or may not) on some level account to why Obama wanted to send 3000 troops to "fight Ebola". Interesting coincidence either way. -
