I've always wondered this. Why was disco resoundly ? upon as a musical genre in the 70's? I mean other artists would ? about disco in their songs, talking about how bad the music. Hell, there was a even a Disco Demolition Night, promotion at Cominsky Park that turned into a riot.
Even though disco as a genre was a fad, there were some disco produced some straight up classics.
Shake Your ? -KC & the Sunshine Band
Get Down Tonight-KC & the Sunshine Band
Hot Stuff-Donna Summer
Love to Love You Baby-Donna Summer
Upside Down-Diana Ross
Shadow Dancing-Andy Gibb
I Just Want to Be Your Everything-Andy Gibb
You Should Be Dancing-Bee Gees
Too Much Heaven-Bee Gees
Stayin' Alive-Bee Gees
Personally, I can't stand this damn song, but I'm not going to deny it's an exceptional track.
I Will Survive-Gloria Gaynor
All these are dope ass songs, which unlike today's records, (which pass themselves off as hot records,) have harmonies, melodies, lyrics, and hooks. How it that the "? " music from damn near forty years ago is HELLA BETTER than most of the ? that's out today?

Goated for the bee gees, had no idea they ? on disco in the 70s.

If I remember correctly the film carlitos way had some good disco tracks that shake your ? tune brought it back to me.

From what I can gather, disco was just like a poppier version of funk

Disco wasn't bad in my opinion. The problem to me was that once Saturday Night Fever got so huge and acts that normally would steer clear of cashing in on the bandwagon jumped on because their labels wanted that fast dollar. Once producers and labels started to figure out the formula for a disco hit that was when it just became like over processed cheese.

I know some dope disco tracks, but of course here in Chicago they play it alot with house music which derived from disco

It was just the US which ? on Disco. It gave birth to House and Techno and everything else afterwards (plus you saw the whole nu-disco genre from the 00s right up to today) so its legacy is still alive.

because the 70's had some of the most revoluntary music in history and disco was more powder puff than that

Serious artists & critics alike generally hate on whats popular at the time because their label/audience may pressure them to conform when they are compelled to go another direction.
When things are forced down peoples throats, a general consensus is usually hate despite unparalleled commercial approval. Take boy bands for example, despite the success and acclaim of nearly every one that existed from 98-02, the word alone makes people cringe in disgust and anger.
Disco was cool though, but honestly it is sort of lame to just be listening to like that. -
LoL Disco is wayy better music than whatever they calling music now, mainstream music is lifeless as ? .
