Before the Sun Rise

Before the sun rises my grandmother arose and prayed before the rise of the sun.
She walked out that door and pray towards The East,
With her corn pollen in hand she'd bless Mother Earth.
Prayers she uttered with her lips forth against the wicked she shun,
In her Dìne language she held preciously like turquoise and coal stones,
Prayers that spoke forth illuminating chants as beautiful like the embellishment of her squash blossom neckless and clustered bracelets.
Her voice so eloquently she awoke the morning birds and greeted her Heavenly Father The Creator,
Appearing Holy so her prayers were herd as deep in the ancient canyons,
Even Colorado River was moved so the river streamed gently,
The coyotes and wolves disappeared abyss,
Her prayer thus herd in the distance of spiritual places as far as Jerusalem and the Himalayan mountains most importantly in the Kingdom of Heavens..

But when the moon is full behind clouds, my
Brothers took walks into places where we once all played in our childhood time,
They spoke of ancient stories foretold by our late grandfather.
Trekking along with their dogs into the dark forest of Cedar trees.
Their they were greeted by the heavenly stars along moving clouds.
They smoked their spiritual tabacoo called Dzìl Natōō rolled up so finely in corn husk that our grandmother had blessed.
They were bounded with talks, walks, laughs and forgetting tomorrow's stress,
Pausing at the sounds of howls from coyotes,
Perhaps even a hoot from the owl.
Witnessing and wishing on falling stars,
my brothers were tight like Navajo woven baskets, inseparable.
A few hours pass, you could hear their laughter from a distance,
Almost like the sound of a thunderstorm,
Happily elated even when we had nothing but each other,

We were are warriors.

But those laugh echoing, those morning prayers uttering.. O' how I dearly miss.
