Did money change you?

Other than the fact that when I got enough money years ago to move out my parents house--I left; which that changed my standard of living immediately.
I still live in the same house I bought after I moved out my parents.
I bought another investment property with saved money and rent that out (that can be hell sometime with tenants).
I had an MR2 Spyder which I loved, but after I totalled it; I downsized and went to a pick-up truck that was a lot cheaper.
To answer your question, it didn't change my standard of living much; basically the extra money gave me a chance to pursue things I wanted to do business wise.
I can definitely see on other ways why a person's standard of living has reason to change:
-if you're raising kids you want to put them in as safe an environment as possible and put them around a place where they can attend schools that will give them a good education.
-if you don't have kids, you still might want to move in an area where you can get good value for your house when you sell it.
So even if you personally are cool with living below your means, I'm just saying that somethings can reasonably make you live closer to your means or in some cases above your means depending on what you are investing in. -
