COVENTRY, R.I. -- Checking on the well-being of a man described by a pizza delivery driver as a regular customer who didn't answer the door when his order was delivered, police discovered a marijuana growing operation and arrested the occupant of the house.
James Clement Van Pelt III, 41, of 32 Woodmist Circle, was arraigned Wednesday in District Court, Warwick, on a charge of cultivating marijuana. He was released after posting surety bail.
On Tuesday, police seized plants, seedlings and nine pounds of marijuana, as well as growing and packaging materials, at that address, the Coventry police said Thursday.

He was a regular customer and it's also odd for someone to order a pizza and not answer the door. He did the right thing - it's not his fault dude ordered a pizza, got high and passed out in a house with 9lbs of weed. -

What I don't understand is...usually, if you don't answer the door, they just call the phone number you used to call them in the first place.
Calling the cops was definitely extra. -

I would imagine they tried calling him a few times. -
Wow.
When I was a teen, I would see when my neighbors would leave and I would call and order pizza for that house. They would knock and knock, then eventually leave.
We would do it for free pizza. Because we would let them know they've "just left" and that since the pizza would be tossed out, could we have it. Out of the many times we did it, it only worked 3 times.
But calling the cops? Really? Crazy.
