Konami has ceased all triple-A console game production on everything but Pro Evolution Soccer and there are currently no plans for a big new Metal Gear game, while worldwide technology director Julien Merceron has left the company. That's according to a pair of reports on French site Gameblog. Eurogamer understands both reports to be true.
Gameblog wrote yesterday that Merceron was apparently unhappy with Konami's transition away from the console market towards mobile games.
Beyond Metal Gear Online - the separate online component to Metal Gear Solid 5 that is currently being finished - and Pro Evolution Soccer 2016, Konami has a blank triple-A slate. It does however have the licence to the football tournament Euro 2016, so we'd expect it to make use of that.
Problems at Konami were highlighted earlier in the year when Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima left the company and his Kojima Productions studio was dissolved. He had reportedly fallen out with Konami's big bosses who refused to bankroll his long and lavish productions any longer. Metal Gear Solid 5 reportedly cost $80m to make. Any new Metal Gear Solid game Konami produces will presumably be made without Kojima involved.
Further problems at Konami were highlighted when respected financial Japanese newspaper Nikkei ran an article about a deteriorating company culture at Konami's game division. Employees "deemed useless" were apparently given menial and degrading tasks, and communication with outsiders was restricted and lunch breaks monitored.
What comes next for Konami, and for Kojima, we'll have to wait and see.

Business is business in the end and it's a sound business move.
On the real now you MGS fans know what we Castlevania fans have been going through all these years. -
MGS5 cost $80m? $80m?!
The industry is going to die if great games take $80m to produce -

The MGS storyline got ruined a very long time ago. -
They basically Outsourced Castlevania to a Spanish studio,(lords of Shadows was the ? ). Maybe theyll continou to do so in the future...I know there is a new Castlevania anime coming up, wouldnt be suprised if they let another studio produce it again....

Metal Gear Solid 5 will reportedly have to double its current 3 million sales in order to break even
"Huh, no wonder Konami's reluctant to get back into triple-A video game development. Forbes reports that development costs for the publisher's latest title, Metal Gear Solid 5, hit nearly $80 million."
gat dayum!! major games really do demand blockbuster movie budgets now.vagrant-718 wrote: »

Judging by the Silent Hill Pachinko game, yeah, this is MGS's future until further notice. Enjoy MGSV for the tour de force masterpiece finale to the series that it is.

I can agree that a PS3 and X-Box 360 version definitely should have been deaded, but why do you think it wouldn't sell on PC or Xbox 1?
Going exclusive definitely could have eased the hit in their pocket for sure though. -

Hey now us broke ? love the series too lol. -
I thought the phantom pain would nuke Steam lol...suprised it didnt sell well on the One aswell...
anyway a customer Service bro said this:
However Konami has since stepped forward and refuted those rumors. In a statement released to Nintendo Life, “I can promise you that we’re definitely not leaving Metal Gear behind or anything like that. I know some blogs were claiming that online this morning, but I’m not really sure where they’d be getting that from. We’re still definitely working on console games and franchises such as Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, PES and all the rest.”
but it didnt came from their pr dep though but I still have hope for a Castlevania on da 4/one -

They just cancelled a silent hill and only the 2d castlevania games are good. What they should do is
-let platinum release metal gear rising 2
-Make 2d/2.5d contra, castlevania and gradius game for xbla/psn
-Survival horror making a comeback so drop a silent hill
-if guitar hero a success, jump on with the ddr or beatmania
-ride the ff remake wave and drop a suikoden
-frogger and bomberman can do the pachinko mobile games ?
-
I need both mayne, a 2d castlevania ala symphony of the night and a epic 3d ala lords of shadows...? , a remake/remaster of Cybornator>>>>>
? wont happen though haha
but yeah lets hope them mofos ain't really tappin out and Mobile bound...like u said frogger and bomberman are perfect for Mobile games....
