HSV-1 is very common. You can get that by sharing a soda. Herpes Simplex 2 is the one to worry about though. That's genital herpes. There isn't much you can do to prevent it. Just get tested first.

    STD threads never do numbers...

And you wonder why black people have the highest STD rates.

Most people who post on here are not black...

I think there's so much miseducation in general concerning the hsv viruses. You know hsv isn't even included in the screening process when you go get a standard std test for all the major and minor stds. You have to specifically ask for that to be included. And unless you have symptoms (which a lot of ppl who been exposed don't show symptoms) the results can still say negative. Matter fact the vast majority of ppl who been exposed aren't even aware of it. so the reality is could have it this whole time and not even know.

Condoms don't protect against herpes. So a lot more people have it than you previously thought

There's a lack of understanding so this is from WebMD. In the U.S. (you can google or wiki this) about 1 in 3 people have what is called HSV-1 that's the most common form of it. The sexually transmitted one is HSV-2 which appears on the ? . The difference between the two is that HSV-1 can be passed through kissing, sharing drinks, rubbing sweat onto open glands/wounds, sharing make-up/lipstick etc. and there doesn't have to be an open sore present to transmit the disease either. HSV-1 can appear on eyes, finger tips and the lips and very rarely, the ? . The HSV-2 however can only be transmitted sexually and can't be passed through kissing or sharing drinks or airborne (UNLESS someone with an open HSV-2 sore touches a person with their open sore). The sores are most contagious in the first 24 hours. Condoms don't protect against the first one b/c it can be transmitted non-sexually in other ways but they do protect you against the second one HSV-2. HSV-1 is not commonly sexually transmitted but can be if a person doesn't have it and their genitalia is the first point of entry.

Only 20-40% of people actually get the HSV-1 sores, while 60-80% of people develop antibodies and don't get any their whole lives. Of the 20-40% of people only a third actually have recurring sores, and the rest might have an outbreak once and never again. Most of the people who get it btw usually get it as youth. As for HSV-2 it's not common, it is estimated that about 8-11% of the general population in the United States have it. A person with HSV-1 can't get the same disease on their ? but they can get HSV-2 there.

Because of how common HSV-1 is and the lack of understanding (shares the same name as the sexually transmitted one) there's a social stigma and also an ongoing debate if it should be included as an STI, while it is very similar to HSV-2 the two are in fact different diseases. HSV-1 is not screened as one in many parts of the U.S. (in Canada they screen for it tho). There are 8 different types altogether (including mono and chicken pox). This is according to WebMD and the reference links to other sites, yall can see and verify this information for yourself. If you wiki the rates, it looks like Europe has the highest number of people with HSV-1 at 72% for France and similar countries (why am I not surprised LOLOLOL), while HSV-2 rates seem to vary between 6-10%. In second and third world countries, herpes of the blood is one of the leading causes of infant mortality because these countries often have poor health care systems and don't have the necessary equipment to handle such diseases.

HVS-2 post. Stay away from those pornstars Sion.
