BALTIMORE — A new report states the city of Baltimore has deliberately dumped over 330 million gallons of raw sewage in Jones Falls.

The report by the Environment Integrity Project claims the city has been dumping sewage over the past five years. The group also notes there have been more than 400 complaints of sewage backing up into homes in the city’s 1,400-mile network.

Tom Pelton with the Environmental Integrity Project says there is a pipe underneath Falls Road that empties into the Jones Falls waterway. He says the city uses the pipe to discharge sewage mixed with rainwater into the waterway which leads into the Inner Harbor.

The reports also states the overflows release 15 times as much sewage as the city has reported spilling from pipe breaks and blockages.
