I don't have it in me no more
no more pro black anthems
and other revolutionary wishes
left the dishes of knowledge
to be washed in the machine
the words I tend to deem into the minds
lose meaning and by the means
I try to reach the youth towards knowledge
but it gets shoved within the pit
enough of trying to dismiss
the lollygagging from the truth
the proof is 100 percent false
within the ages of my past behavior
slavery and other means are diminished
from the thoughts of African Americans
why worry about Virginia
and Arizona when we can't afford to pay to keep the tv on
oil leaks and knowledge is gone
losing its edge from the days where teachers spawn courage
to rebel against the master of the system
rage against the machine by programming the youth with wisdom
so they can be constructed to self destruct their own self pity
and explore the masses with self dignity
tough ? that the committee won't help my fellow fellas
get jobs that's well needed
women are treated like they defeated
getting their feet did and nails polished
while society mock this with plastic barbies
Nicki flaunting the masses with fake beauty
got my sister wanting to pose like wax
the artifacts of reality is long gone
MTV is poisoning music and television so long gone
BET leading many including me to the pit of harm and foul
how can I be the same fella to dismiss such a channel
when i root for bones in a freestyle battle?
poison of our culture is beyond a soap box
so i play hopscotch with the masses
i can't even wake up the classes
too many students are falling asleep to the chalk board approach
even Huey Freeman is retiring
how all of this can to be?
used to have a strong committee
representing for the self righteous crowd of few to many
nowadays even intelligent hustlers flip the birds to represent
and shorties that use to love it leave it to the present
i find myself hesitant to even do this poetry ?
no one reads it they rather proceed to agree and come up with schemes
to achieve it
writing and reciting to enlighten a few
only to lose the minds that they choose to refuge
away from the mist of modern day swagger and financial disaster
oh hell what the ? is a poet to do
admit defeat and join the band
carrying my thoughts and fighting spirit behind the wagon
dragging by two wheels asking for some sort of satisfaction
