Maxwell is back! The R&B singer returns to the music, releasing his brand new single “Lake By The Ocean.” Sounding stronger than ever, the soulful veteran offers a beautiful mellow track, highlighted by his graceful falsetto. The track, available for purchase on iTunes, serves as the first offering off Maxwell’s forthcoming blackSUMMERS’night album due May 1.
“We’ve been counting down to the single,” said the singer in a message to his fans. “Over the course of the countdown, #UrbanHangSuite turned 20 years old. I can’t thank you enough for your patience. It’s priceless. Hope you enjoy ‘lake by the ocean’ available tomorrow on iTunes! look forward to a sunmer tour and of-course the album release this summer.”
blackSUMMERS’night will be the 42-year-old’s first studio album since 2009’s BLACKsummers’night. The new album will drop on the same night Maxwell headlines this year’s ESSENCE Festival in New Orleans, as the release also marks the 20-year-anniversary of his debut album Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite.
