Newly-released video implicates an Alameda County, California sheriff’s deputy in the attempted bribery of a homeless couple following the beating of an unarmed suspect, KTVU-TV reported.

“My jaw dropped,” Public Defender Jeff Adachi said of the footage. “It completely corroborates what the witnesses have said.”

The surveillance footage was enhanced as part of the investigation into deputies’ treatment of 29-year-old Stanislav Petrov late last year.

Luis Santamaria and Paul Wieber were caught on camera beating Petrov, who was suspected of stealing a car. None of the 11 deputies who were at the scene had their body camera on during the incident.

Investigators believe that the enhanced video shows Deputy Shawn Osborne carrying a gold chain that belonged to Petrov, which supports allegations by Jerome Allen and Hailey Harris that an officer at the scene gave them “a very nice gold chain with a large medallion cross” in exchange for keeping quiet about the incident. Allen told KTVU that he was also given money, “a small amount of ? ,” and cigarettes.

“They came up to me and the first thing they said was, ‘Did you enjoy the show?'” he said in an interview aired in January.

KTVU also reported that Santamaria and Wieber could soon be charged with excessive force by the San Francisco district attorney’s office. Osborne is currently on administrative leave.

“We need to restore accountability,” Adachi said. “This was a beating that was on par with the Rodney King beating and yet in that case there was charges filed in two weeks, you know here, it’s been six months.

Earlier this week, Adachi’s office released several racist and anti-? text messages sent by San Francisco police officer Jason Lai, saying that Lai “wished violence upon the very people he was being paid to protect and none of his colleagues turned him in.”
