I just had a convo with the head of AHH after seeing that list pitchfork did. Expect to see AHH doing more of these in the near future. -

I ? with Jay heavy, I got the ? in my avi. But the comparison is disrespectful. Dear Summer is a cool b side track, Summertime is a staple of Hiphop. -

I don't know where you're from but Jay Z held down New York for seven consecutive summers. If he didn't have an album out he had a remix or a b-side or a verse on somebody's single. When he "retired" it was sad to see him go. But he went out like Kobe*, in the summer of 03 when Dear Summer was released he was on Diamonds From Sierra Leone (Remix), the Go Crazy (Remix) and Hot 97 had Encore from The Black album on heavy rotation.
So basically it was Jay's last official summer and he had four songs on heavy rotation and Dear Summer was one of them. I guess you had to be there.
* On a side note, I'm gonna start using that expression, "he went out like Kobe". For those that don't know Kobe Bryant scored 60 points in his last NBA game.

I remember when this came out.
This is when it was indisputable that the West Coast had a new sound with Dre and Snoop and the East Coast was struggling to come up with its own identity. -
Lloyd banks-fire...not really that song but the whole album ran summer 04
And don't sleep on that lumadee song with busta ...I remember that getting play during a summer -

They played the everlasting ? out of that non singin' ass brawd song! Got plenty of grindage in club from it tho. lol
The crazy thing is Lumidee's "Never Leave You (Uh Oh), Sean Paul's "Get Busy" and Wayne Wonder's "No Letting Go" ALL had the same base/core beat sample from.....

And each one of these songs came out about 6 months or so from each other.
