I had only seen those on Chopped but now .....They are selling those at the HEB

It's a fruit. Just wait for it to ripe and eat the pods inside of it. There are seeds inside of it too, don't eat those. When it's ripe the outside turns yellow-ish and may have some brown spot. The easiest way to tell is the sweet smell from a long way.

I dont eat pork but i remember growing up in the hood and every summer the "local group" would have 3 huge grill/ smokers and cook whole pigs...u could smell it from miles...

I'm about 1000% percent sure the smell that ? loved so much was bacon*.
