Long hallways, dark in some ways
But at the same time, it was the light at the end of the tunnel
Like a funnel, mass entrance but only a narrow exit
An exit available to the best of the best kids
Not many like me had me wondering, where the G’s at?
None of ‘em in the place rockin yankee fitted caps
No baggy pants with the fresh fade on the side
These cats be lookin like they was fresh outta Breaker High
Black male from a white hood, who would’ve guessed I would
Have made it this far, according to some I never should
Old white guy comes up, “What are YOU doing here?” he says
? ... this black man don’t belong in a white boy rez?
I thought to myself, this man’s ignorance is astounding
Found out who his daughter was, I gotta try pounding
Never got all the way, but that’s a story for another day
Let’s just say I got a hit and put the ball into play.
Back to the message though, we’re under represented
When it comes to learning and post secondary education
Don’t settle for the minimum when there is no limit
It used to be the sky but now we got astronauts and spacecrafts in it
Options are infinite, don’t oppress yourselves
And don’t let the man’s negativity drag you to hell
I should’ve clocked that old man, but I showed we’re better than that
I’m not just some cat who likes ball and enjoys to rap
We don’t all resort to violence like what’s portrayed on the news
You can’t tell me I don’t belong here when I pay for my school
Got grades better than you , so what you expect me to do?
Drop out like a ? , and get played like a fool?
? you if you doubt me when you see me wearin a suit
No, I’m not scheduled to be sitting in the defendant’s booth
Negative connotations of the black male
When will be let out of this whack jail
Prisoners in a free world, hand me the key
So I can free my people, I truly believe
That we’re partly to blame though, two sides to a story
No guts no glory, we have to expand our territory
From streets to classroom seats, not just for the riches
Intelligence is the key to freedom, just listen

As much as we like to, we can’t blame others for our misfortune
We have to run our own mile, success comes when we hand the torch in
No one’s gonna do it for us, take matters into your own hands
Haters gon hate, but words can hold down no man
This racial divide, this tension, not feeling it
Sure that white man was wrong, but the cause, I still believe in it
Don’t think any less of any race; there will always be those
Those haters who just... ? it. Whatever.
Just thought I’d share that story, I chose to be the bigger man
Let your actions speak for you, succeed in life and make a stand.
