lol, I just read that parentheses and exponents are on the same "level" and you should do whichever appears first in the problem.
My math world is crashing all around me.

(9+3)= 12
48/2 = 24
24 * 12 = 288
Edit: The problem in the parentheses is done first, but after that you're free to do 48/2, then times 12 and 24 together. -

48/2 = 24
9+3 = 12
24 x 12 = 288 -
