Scottie Pippen exact words: " Michael Jordan is probably the greatest scorer to ever play in the game. But I may go as far as to say LeBron James may be the greatest player to ever play the game because he’s so potent offensively that not only can he score at will, but he keeps everybody involved."
Those are strong words considering MJ is the greatest player of all-time. The thing that got everybody alarmed was Scottie played w/MJ and help made his career word 2 the wise dont bite the hand that fed you.

I know he said "may be" but if someone said this about Kobe after Year 8 (where LeBron is now) people would have been flipping just as much. LeBron doesn't get into MJ's league until he wins MULTIPLE titles. All things being equal, titles determine the winner. Right now it's 6-5-0. LeBron ain't better than Kobe who ain't better than MJ. Kobe might, one day, get close; LeBron might too. But right now, the conversation should be closed.

jordan is the greatest thus far end of discussion because no one has come close
kobe and lebron are argubly the best in the league today ,i would throw dwayne wade in there too and ofcourse they would be comparisons to the greatest to ever play in the nba and possibly the most skilled in any of the five major sports but to say today lebron is the greatest to play the game is ? ridiculous and i would put money on pippen not believin his own words and subliminally takin a shot at mj because they had a falling out or maybe mj smacked him around one time to many.scottie is bitter because he was allways in mjs shadow and had two years to prove he wasnt just a sidekick but couldnt get a trophy .mj had to unretire for the bulls to pull off a second threepeat .pippen will always be known as michaels lil brother
scottie is lucky to have six rings thanks to who?

This. Also, if Jordan played in the Kobe, Shaq, Duncan, Iverson, Lebron era he would not be the clear cut best player.

    I'm done discussing this.

When Lebron has two 3-peats in the next ten years and leads the league in scoring 8 years in a row and wins some defensive awards then call me. not to mention the dream team

Why does this same logic not apply to #24 when they try to compare him to mike?

Pippen said he could be better not he is better

there is a difference between may be and could be.

what are lebrons accomplishments again?has he won a defensive player of the year award even once?how many mvps?

lebron is a ball of potential
dwayne wade stepped his game up so not to be another pippen

here are a lot of similarities there – the way they play, the way they approach the game, the ability to close games at the end. It’s never going to be a situation where you can compare who’s better – Kobe or Michael. Kobe is the greatest player in his time and Michael was the greatest player in his time.

does that make him less of a player than Michael was? No it does not. I think he’s the best player in the league right now in my eyes still. I know LeBron has shown great signs of being great and he’s definitely a better all around player than Kobe, but I think Kobe is definitely the greatest player in this generation.

Kobe is the closest thing to jordan that will ever walk through that door and onto that court.....and to that ? bilfiger dude....lebron isn't even close to being the defender Kobe is/was...especially at 25....when kobe focuses on one facet of the game there is no player that can do it better or at that level in the history of basketball besides Jordan....kobe wants to be a post player, he is at or the same level of post skill than by far any guard (with the exception of mj) and right up to par post skill/moves with a mcchale, kareem etc.....if kobe decides to focus on the defensive end, he is a SHUT DOWN DEFENDER that we haven't seen since MJ...so to compare lebron to even Kobe is ? and plain dumb...to compare bron to MJ AT THIS POINT IN HIS CAREER is by far one of the most reacting to hype convos that has ever happened.....as far as what scottie said, its his opinion, why not...he said he could be....? I, you, him, her COULD BE...doesnt mean it is, was, or will be....it's not fair to kobe to compare him but it's obvious why and is inevitable seeing their accomplishments and demeanor....it isnt fair to lebron at all, cuz he doesnt even play similiar or played for anything in his career...one finals he went to with a horrid eastern conference comp, but no pressure....besides that he has had the team success equal to dwight howard or even less....he should be compared to a player like that...dominating, but at the end of the day wins nothing...? you could compare him to dirk..great records and stats, but means little...never won ? ...the guy they should be talking about is dirk...the guy has been amazing...bron is awful a whole half then FINALLY hits some shots in teh fourth quarter cuz he never does that, and we are so used to him failing people OVERREACT to him NOT....similar to his gw against orlando in 09...ppl were hyped....then he got dismantled and was on his couch watching the playoffs 6 days later...if he wins just 3 with wade, then you could compare him to kobe and his first run....if he wins more after that THEN you can compare him to KOBE....if he passes 6 and ONLY then can lebron and JORDAN's names be even breath-ed in the same sentence/convo....theres a pecking order...media makes alot of these people get caught in the moment....lebron james couldnt even hold a candle to Larry bird yet...how does he skip all those guys and be referenced with Jordan??? ? absurd

Kobe is better than Jordan. Jordan had stacked teams and ? wanna act like jordan did it alone cuz he scored so many points. Thing is he didn't have to, he's just a ballhog. He played in the 90's which just might be the weakest era for guards. He got dpoy because he didn't have to guard anybody. Its easy to shut down danny ainge, dan majerle, vinny del ? , hornacek, reggie miller, etc.

Jordan played in the weakest era wit no comp. Look at the 1st ballot HOFers in his era besides him. Scottie Pippen, Dominique Wilkins, and clyde drexler. 3 other ? on the wing are 1st ballot and none of em played his position and 1 of em was on his team. ? didn't guard ANYBODY that was good. The 2nd best SG in the 90's was Mitch Richmond.

I just realized yesterday that kobe is better. After lebron wins 2 playoff series they got scottie ready to crown this ? the greatest all time and he has no rings. How you gone do that in this era when Kobe snatched up 5 rings? Its all ESPN/Nike hype.

What do that have to do wit the better player?

Rings dont mean you're a better player that means you had the best team

Bryant led the NBA in scoring during the 2005–06 and 2006–07 seasons.[3] In 2006, Bryant scored a career-high 81 points against the Toronto Raptors, the second-highest number of points scored in a game in NBA history,[4][199] behind only Wilt Chamberlain's 100 point performance. Bryant was awarded the regular season's Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) in the 2007–08 season and led his team to the 2008 NBA Finals as the first seed in the Western Conference.[200] In the 2008 Summer Olympics, he won a gold medal as a member of the U.S. men's basketball team, occasionally referred to as "The Redeem Team".[7] He led the Lakers to two more championships in 2009 and 2010, winning the Finals MVP award on both occasions.
Bryant has been selected to 13 All-NBA Team (nine times to the All-NBA First Team) and 11 All-Defensive Team (nine times to the All-Defensive First Team). He was selected to play in the NBA All-Star Game on 13 occasions, winning All-Star MVP Awards in 2002, 2007, 2009 and 2011 (he shared the 2009 award with Shaquille O'Neal). He also won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest in 1997.[201] As of May 2011, he has had 5 sixty-point games, 24 fifty-point games, and 107 forty-point games.
